Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Itadori

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired in 2023 and became a global sensation almost immediately. The anime was even more successful than the first season, receiving praise from fans and critics alike. MAPPA announced a third season right after Season 2 concluded in December 2023. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is confirmed to cover the Culling Game, another brutal and action-packed arc of the story. However, even more than a year since its announcement, there’s been barely any updates from MAPPA. Jump Festa 2025 shared a key visual featuring Yuji but didn’t share a release window or the first look at the anime.

The winner of the Best Director award at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Shota Goshozono will be returning as the director of Season 3. He took over the helm after Sunghoo Park left MAPPA in 2021 and established his own studio, E&H Production. During the highly anticipated AnimeJapan 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen also set the stage to announce news regarding its upcoming projects. However, there weren’t any updates about the third season’s release date, placing it at a more likely 2026 debut window. Instead, they focused on promoting the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc compilation film, which will hit Japanese theatres on May 30th.

What Should You Expect From Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3?

While JJK Season 3 is confirmed to cover the Culling Game Arc, it will begin with Itadori’s Extermination Arc before moving on to the Perfect Preparation Arc. While both these arcs are short, they highlight the consequences of the Shibuya Incident Arc while also setting up the premise of the Culling Game. Yuji is once again being targeted by the elders, who order Yuta Okkotsu to be his executioner. Season 2 ends with a major cliffhanger as the youngest special-grade sorcerer shows hostility towards Yuji.

Yuta is the protagonist of the prequel movie and one of Gojo’s most trusted students. His actions may seem like he is out for blood, but he has his own plans. Moreover, the Perfect Preparation Arc focuses majorly on Maki and her struggles with the Zenin Clan. Culling Game is the battle royale set up by Kenjaku who craves destruction out of boredom. The Culling Game is the longest arc of the manga, so if Season 3 plans to wrap up these three arcs within 24-26 episodes, they will have to cover quite a lot of content compared to the first two seasons.

Fans Expect Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 to Release in 2026

While there’s no guarantee about this, the speculation stems from the fact that Season 1 debuted in 2020 and Season 2 in 2023. With a three-year gap between the first two seasons, MAPPA may as well take the same approach this time as well. While JJK Season 3 didn’t share any new updates in AnimeJapan 2025, the franchise has plenty of chances this year. Aniplex Online Fest, which is usually held in September, and Jump Festa, which takes place every December, are another two major events fans can keep an eye out for as they await a teaser and release date of Season 3. In the meantime, you can catch up with the first two seasons and the prequel movie on Crunchyroll and Netflix.

Jujutsu Kaisen announced a Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc compilation film in JujuFest 2024, which was held this past August. The film also shared its first key visual in Jump Festa 2025 and the Japanese release date. While it’s confirmed the film will hit Japanese theatres on May 30th, 2025, the global release date has yet to be announced. The second day of AnimeJapan 2025, one of the largest anime events in Tokyo shared the first trailer of this movie. Several production houses take part in this two-day event and promote their upcoming projects. JJK promoted the film with an exhibition on the first day and unveiled the trailer on the second.

The 90-second trailer features glimpses from one of the series’ most tragic arcs. Known as Gojo’s Past Arc in the manga, this flashback is one of the most popular arcs in the story. The anime adaptation in the first five episodes of Season 2 is still praised for its stellar animation, attention to detail, and incredible soundtrack. Fans will get to witness the same story of the strongest duo on the big screen as we learn the truth about their separation. The animation is pretty much the same, but the runtime is expected to be around two hours so we can expect extended scenes or additional moments.

Why Fans Still Love Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen

JJK has its fair share of action-packed arcs with fast pacing and high stakes. Compared to the Shibuya Incident and Culling Game Arcs, this arc focuses more on character interaction along with thrilling battles. Satoru Gojo is one of the most popular characters in recent times, and fans have always loved almost every scene he is a part of. An arc focusing on his teenage years is sure to grab attention, especially if it highlights his struggles despite being the strongest. Gojo and Geto’s friendship and separation were revealed in the prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

However, the flashback arc reveals what led to such tragedy. Beneath its cheerful spring atmosphere, the arc highlights the brutality of the Jujutsu world and the impact it has on the younger generation who are unable to bear the burden. Manga fans are quick to notice the subtle details added in the storyboard that highlight the complexity of the characters. Additionally, the second season has some of the best animations in the modern series, making this arc more interesting than ever.

The first day of AnimeJapan 2025 is over and it announces several exciting anime news. It’s an annual two-day event held in Tokyo where anime professionals and enthusiasts gather to witness several exhibitions and get updates on the latest news regarding highly anticipated anime series and movies. This year as well, AnimeJapan collaborates with major production studios such as Bandai Namco, Pierrot, Production I.G., Toei Animation, TMS Entertainment, and more. Jujutsu Kaisen is also setting up a stage this year and will unveil news about the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc compilation film. However, there is no confirmation that fans will get any update about the third season.

While the news is expected to be revealed on May 23rd, 2025, the official X account of Jujutsu Kaisen hypes up the film with an exhibition focusing on Gojo and Geto. In a 21-second video, we see two separate panels including frames of Gojo and Geto from their youth to their adulthood. Additionally, there’s a screen in the middle, featuring a scene from Season 2 of the anime. The film was announced on August 25, 2024, during the JujuFest 2024 event and will hit Japanese theatres on May 30th, 2025. There has yet to be an announcement regarding a global release date, but we can expect an announcement sometime around the Japanese release date.

What to Expect From the Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc Movie?

The film will compile and remaster the first five episodes of the anime’s second season covering Gojo’s Past Arc. The arc is called Hidden Inventory/Premature Death in the anime as it takes us 12 years back in the past following the strongest duo during their high school years. The friendship and the separation of the duo were implied in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel film released in 2021. However, the story unravels their tragedy just before the Shibuya Incident Arc. The arc is pretty popular among the fanbase with Gojo being the focus of the story.

The two young Special-Grade Sorcerers are tasked with protecting a young girl Riko Amanai from bounty hunters. She is the Star Plasma Vessel born in 500 years, with a hefty price on her head. Her role is to merge with Master Tengen who can sustain their immortality with the young girl’s sacrifice. Tengen has existed for centuries and is responsible for maintaining the barriers of Jujutsu High. Because some religious organizations that worship Tengen believe the merger will make the immortal sorcerer “impure,” they do everything they can to kill Riko.

With Gojo and Geto being on duty, the possibility of her reaching Master Tengen’s location increases significantly. However, Gojo and Geto are conflicted over leading the young girl safely to her doom and snatching her future from her. The strongest duo is unaware that an infamous Sorcerer Killer has his eyes on the prize and is watching their every move. He plans everything from a distance, waiting for the right chance to strike. The finale of this arc explains the reason why Gojo and Geto separated and what led them to become enemies.

Jujutsu Kaisen Todo Yuji

Weekly Shonen Jump’s latest hit, Ichi the Witch, is winning hearts with its captivating storyline, gorgeous art, intriguing world-building, and, of course, lovable characters. Written by Osamu Nishi and illustrated by Shiro Usazaki, the series debuted in September 2024. The story is set in a world where only women have an affinity for magic, and no male has been able to pass the unique trials given by magical beings known as Majiks. After a series of chaotic events, Ichi ends up becoming the first male witch and, thus, begins his journey as he comes to terms with his new identity. The story takes a massive turn after the appearance of the World Hater Majik.

It’s the strongest villain we have seen so far, someone who even Desscaras couldn’t defeat easily. The brief fight against the Mantinel Witches Association and the World Hater Majik ends with the latter leaving the battlefield. However, Ichi swears to one day hunt the villain. Things get even more tense when a prophecy arrives, claiming that Ichi will acquire the World Hater Majik but will also die as a result. The series recently commences a new arc where Ichi and his companions travel to Bakugami, a place where it’s prophesized he will meet an ally to help fight the World Hater Majik. All hints point towards Gokuraku being the ally Ichi is searching for. However, their team-up may be too chaotic for the Witches Association to handle.

Gokuraku Ichi the Witch
Shonen Jump

Ichi the Witch’s Ichi and Gokuraku Is the Funniest Duo We Have Seen Since Yuji and Todo

Ichi the Witch has only just introduced Gokuraku but he has the potential to be an excellent ally to Ichi. In JJK, Yuji and Todo are one of the most beloved duos even though they don’t have much screen time together. Compared to Megumi, who is also a great ally to Yuji, Todo matches Yuji’s energy far better. Todo also pushes Yuji to get stronger amid the fight, making their dynamic even more interesting. It was Todo’s enthusiasm that led the two of them to work together and become friends.

jujutsu-kaisen-yuji-todo-anime.jpg

A subtle similarity can be seen in the way Gokuraku comically “forces” Ichi to work with him. Gokuarku debuts in Chapter 22, looking menacing as he beats up a Majik and asks how to acquire it. His debut gives the impression that he will be difficult to deal with, but he’s surprisingly a funny character. This again parallels with Todo, who was introduced as a brute and ended up beating Megumi simply because he found the latter’s taste in women “boring.” The resulting quote he draws out of Yuji about his tastes in women is nothing short of iconic and hilarious.

Ichi and Gokuraku
Shonen Jump

Things take a major turn in Chapter 23 when Gokuraku is impressed by Ichi’s ability to use magic despite being a man. In Chapter 24, he takes the protagonist away and asks him to teach them how to become a witch. The two get to know each other more during the time Ichi is separated from Desscaras and Kumugi. However, all hell breaks lose in Chapter 26 when the two do the unthinkable by hurting Bakugami, who is considered to be a savior. Gokuraku is instigating Ichi to attack Bakugami, which is the worst crime in the land. However, the man’s intention doesn’t seem to be out of malice since he is aware of Bakugami’s true nature.

Ichi the Witch Gokuraku
Shonen Jump

Gokuraku Will Be One of the Most Important Characters in Ichi the Witch

The story has all but confirmed that Gokuraku is the companion Jikishirone talked about in the prophecy. In Ichi the Witch Chapter 22, as soon as Jikishirone’s letter mentions “companion,” the scene shifts to Gokuraku, who is torturing a Majik. This heavily implies that he’s the one Ichi and the others need to find. If that wasn’t enough to convince us, the next chapter unveils that the prophecy instructs Ichi’s team to hunt a human hater Majik. This will lead them to the companion, and sure enough, the team finds Gokuarku in the South Bakugami, where the only human hater Majik dwells.

Gokuraku’s powers are unlike anything we have seen so far. He has embedded magic crystals in his body in hopes of becoming strong. He is also actively trying to look for a way to become a witch. Gokuraku’s actions appear to stem from desperation instead of greed for power. The story will likely delve deeper into it as the arc continues. Furthermore, given his strength and his experience in beating Majiks to a pulp, there’s no doubt he is already a worthy ally to Ichi.

The director of Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season and the prequel, Sunghoo Park, established his studio, E&H Production, in March 2021 after leaving MAPPA. The studio changed the director for the second season, while Sunghoo Park focused on his own studio. JJK is one of the most popular series in recent times, and Sunghoo’s work in the first season still gets praised. Sunghoo is also known for his work in the anime adaptation of The God of High School. In 2024, he released an action-packed series, Ninja Kamui, that caught the public’s eye. However, the pipeline continues with Park’s latest project, Bullet/Bullet, an original net anime set to drop for Disney+.

However, one day he is brutally attacked and his family murdered by assassins from his old clan seeking revenge for his defection. The tragedy forces him to walk down the path of revenge as he uses his ninja skills to avenge his loved ones. The animation is known for its fast-paced and fluid action sequences, dynamic visuals, and intricate character designs. Sunghoo’s latest series is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and it’s another original story from the same studio. The series will be released on July 16th as confirmed in the latest promo from Bullet/Bullet’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

What Is the Plot of Bullet/Bullet?

Since the anime is an original work, not much is known about the story. Written and scripted by Kindaichi, the writer of Uma Musume Cinderella Gray, the story follows a group of thieves who accidentally steal the secrets of the world. What follows next is a series of car chases and remarkable battles. As the story continues, the thieves will learn several shocking turths of the world one after another. The fate of this world lies on a group of thieves to put everything on the line to change the world.

The character designer and general animation director is Yoshimatsu Takahiro, best known for his work in Hunter x Hunter. Additionally, Tenjin Hidetaka, who has worked on mecha and world design for several anime and video games is responsible for the concept and mechanical design of Bullet/Bullet. Misawa Shin, the director of Initial D First Stage is the car action director of the show.

More Works By E&H Production

While Ninja Kamui gained a lot of attention because of Sunghoo Park’s reputation, E&H Production’s other popular work is a one-episode special, Monsters, in 2024. It’s based on Eiichiro Oda’s prequel one-shot manga Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation, following the story of Ryuma, the legendary swordsman from Wano. He wielded the legendary blade Shusui, which belonged to Zoro until the Wano Country Saga. Ryuma’s legend dates back to 200 years ago when he single-handedly slayed a dragon.

Additionally, in the same year, E&H Production released Red Cat Ramen based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Angyaman. The story takes place in a ramen shop established and run by talking cats. Following Tamako Yashiro, a human woman who is working part-time behind the scenes, the series focuses on the day-to-day antics of her and her fellow feline employees.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded in September 2024 with a bittersweet ending after the intense battle against the King of the Curses. The final arc featured the battle of the strongest and quickly moved to the Sukuna raid, highlighting almost every character’s importance in the final fight. The anime’s second season aired in 2023 and the third season is currently under production. So far, MAPPA has only released a key visual featuring Yuji and the rest of the details will be shared later on. After covering the two short arcs, Itadori Extermination and Perfect Preparation, the third season will adapt the Culling Game Arc of the manga, one of the most brutal battle royale in the Shonen series.

The manga already released its final volumes last year but only in Japanese. It usually takes a few months, or even a year for a volume to be released and distributed in English. The Japanese version of Volume 25 was released on January 4th, 2024, and will finally be globally available with its English translation on April 24th. Unfortunately, it still has the major translation issues fans often complained about during the manga’s serialization.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25 Didn’t Change the Controversial Translation Errors

Scenes from Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25 quickly made the rounds on X (formerly Twitter) of these translations not being updated ahead of the volume’s official release. The top panel in the image from the fan account Go_Jover is from Chapter 218, which covers Sukuna vs. Yorozu, where she actually urges Sukuna to use his Cursed Technique, “Shrine.” However, the translation by John Werry says “Malevolent Shrine,” which is actually his Domain Expansion. Additionally, the bottom panels are comparing the official translation vs the fan translation.

Surprisingly, the fan translation is more accurate and easier to understand while the official one is quite confusing. The scene is from Chapter 220, right before Gojo’s release from the Prison Realm as Shoko reminisces about him. She also makes it clear that she would never fall for either him or Geto, and that hell would freeze over before that happens. Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25 includes Chapters 218 to 227. Fans also acknowledge the controversial mishaps in translation, with comments such as the following:

@JOTADefender shares, “Man…If only somebody made a Kickstarter so that they retranslate all of it because it’s looking gloomy.”

@bammi057 tags the official account of VizMedia and writes, “Please, this is embarrassing fix this.”

Unfortunately, Viz Media has yet to acknowledge any of the fans’ complaints despite the recurring issue with the translation, and comments reaching years back into their original localized Jujutsu Kaisen chapters.

Jujutsu Kaisen Had Recurring Translation Issues Since the Translator Changed

In 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen’s translator was arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography. In May 2023, Jujutsu Kaisen’s initial translator, Stefan Koza, was sentenced to ten years of jail with seven years suspended. John Werry, a popular translator who has worked in Demon Slayer, Claymore, One Punch Man, etc., began translating Jujutsu Kaisen in Chapter 133.

However, the manga has had several issues with the flow of the dialogues and techniques’ names changing frequently. Many fans have been complaining for years, even tagging Viz Media on several occasions to address the issue. Back in August 2024, Yuji’s English voice actor, Adam McArthur, shared a funny JJK gif on X with the protagonist saying “I see. I don’t get it.” He also captions the post, “John Werry,” calling out the translator for the confusing dialogues even in the Final Saga. Adam gathered a bunch of mixed reactions but it again highlighted the severity of the issue.

Jujutsu Kaisen Itadori Yuji
Studio MAPPA

While Viz Media has yet to publicly acknowledge fans’ complaints, they quietly fixed a couple of errors including the iconic scene in Chapter 221 where Gojo says, “Nah, I’d win.” The original version simply said “No,” leading to surprisingly widespread outrage. This is only one of the examples of the publisher fixing the error, while most of them still remain the same.

Even the manga volumes aren’t fixing the problems, so people who don’t read fan translations wouldn’t know they are reading the scenes completely wrong. Another controversial blunder, and a major one at that, happened in Chapter 256 when Gojo specifically explains he can’t use Black Flash because of his Six Eyes. When actually, he cleared up the misunderstanding that his inability to use Black Flash at will isn’t because of his Six Eyes.

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular manga and anime series in recent times, and the manga sales have been generational for the past few years. Unfortunately, these carelessnesses reduce fans’ trust in the official version and disappoint them further. Fans reading this manga in other languages, such as Spanish and French, have also voiced out a few mistranslations, but the English version has been the most controversial globally. Including Volume 25, JJK still has to release six volumes so it’s unclear if these errors will continue or not.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans are taking the anime into their own hands, and one animation has gone viral for bringing Satoru Gojo’s biggest attack to life. Jujutsu Kaisen is now in the works on returning for Season 3 of the anime at some point in the future, but has yet to confirm a potential release date or window as of the time of this publication. This means fans have been stuck in a sort of limbo as they wait for new episodes of the anime as Yuji Itadori and the others now need to take on one of their deadliest challenges yet.

Jujutsu Kaisen might currently be working on an adaptation of the Culling Game arc from Gege Akutami’s original manga for its next season, but fans are already looking ahead beyond this arc to what’s next. It’s because once Gojo is back in action, the series then runs full steam ahead right to the end of it all. Artist @Nelson_MorinJr has gone viral with fans on X for sharing an animated sequence depicting Gojo’s coolest moment with a Hollow Purple charged all the way to 200% power. Check it out:

What’s Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 ended the Shibuya Incident arc with a massive tease for what’s to come. Gojo was trapped within the mysterious Prison Realm by the supposed Suguru Geto, and Yuji and the other Jujutsu Sorcerers were then left to face off against the Cursed Spirit threats all by themselves. This resulted in some of the wildest carnage and biggest deaths in the series to date, but this is only the beginning as the final episode of the season saw Yuji preparing to head out to the rest of Japan to see just how much damage Geto and the spirits have done since.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will be taking on the Culling Game arc, which takes place immediately after the Shibuya Incident. As part of the fake Geto’s plan, a number of ancient sorcerers and spirits have been revived (or are having their powers awakened) after the Shibuya Incident. This kicks off a deadly tournament with a number of new fights featuring all sorts of new characters, foes, allies, and more in the moments to come. So Yuji really is jumping right from one intense battle to another without any real time to rest in between. It’s nothing but stress until the end of the series.

How to Catch Up With Jujutsu Kaisen

As for the original manga itself, Gege Akutami officially ended Jujutsu Kaisen’s run with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine last year. The series briefly returned with a new epilogue story with the launch of the final volume of the manga in Japan, but it has yet to be revealed when fans in North America will be able to grab this final volume for themselves. For now, you can catch up with the entire series with Viz Media’s digital Shonen Jump library or Shueisha’s MangaPlus service with a paid subscription.

If the anime is more your speed, there are a ton of ways to watch the episodes released thus far. You can now find the first two seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen now streaming with the likes of Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu and more. You can also check out the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 feature film, which takes place before the events of the anime and focuses on Yuta Okkotsu. He’s going to be very important in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, so it’s best to see how his story begins before jumping into the next season.

Shanks One Piece

One Piece has hundreds of characters, but only a select few have major fanbases. These characters are always significant to the story, an impressive achievement in itself with a series sprawling across over a thousand chapters. It’s a tradition for One Piece characters to get stunning birthday art released on social media or through official channels. Each illustration has a personal touch, further fleshing out the characters’ personalities and backstories by adding certain elements to the illustrations. Fans love to share and discuss these official illustrations during the birthdays of their favorite characters as they connect to the series on a deeper level. These arts are drawn by Toei Animators who contribute to the series.

For Shanks’ birthday, a popular Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece animator, @Hone_honeHONE on X, drew a gorgeous illustration. In the art, Shanks is unsheathing his sword as the light’s reflection from his blade lands on his scar. His scar has a deep meaning in the story since it’s given to him by Blackbeard, one of the major antagonists in the show. HoneHone is credited for having recently contributed to Episodes 1074, 1114, and 1115 of the One Piece anime. They also drew Katakuri’s illustration back in November 2024. However, before One Piece, HoneHone was best known for his work in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. During the time Season 2 was airing, the animator publicly spoke about the challenging working conditions at MAPPA studio, earning recognition among the fandom.

Shanks Shares His Birthday With Two More One Piece Characters

One Piece character birthdays are either decided by Oda or fans, based on what the author deems fit. A lot of birthdays are chosen based on Japanese wordplay using numbers. In Japanese, numbers can be read in different ways, allowing for puns related to a certain character’s name. Since Oda doesn’t always follow a strict rule, oftentimes, fans come up with these wordplays, and they are featured in the SBS columns of the manga volumes. Shanks and Franky sharing the same birthdays is a coincidence.

In the SBS for One Piece Volume 54, a fan asks Oda to have March 9th as Shanks’ birthday because of his name. The fan came up with it since “Shan” means 9 and “Kusu” means 3. Additionally, in SBS Volume 43, a fan came up with the birthdays of several Water 7 characters, including Franky. Cyborg is read as “Saibōgu” in Japanese, and “Sa” means 3 while “Gu” means 9. Finally, in Mihawk’s case, it appears Oda decided the birthday on his own since there are no records in the SBS.

Whether it’s a coincidence or not is unknown. It could also be another wordplay like Shanks and Franky. Their birthday arts were also shared by @OPcom_info on X, the official account of the One Piece portal site. However, Shanks and Mihawk sharing the same birthday is surely fascinating. The two only have a five-year age gap, but they are often portrayed as rivals. A few years before the current timeline, they crossed swords, but the victor was undecided. They are both swordsmen and characters who are feared for their devastating powers, with One Piece fans debating over who is the stronger of the two. Hence, these two are often mentioned together, whether in the series or in real life.

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- is now working its way through the climax of the Counterattack Arc in Season 3, and the newest episode gave fans one of the best fights in the arc yet thanks to some help from a prominent animator who’s worked on One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen and more. After making its comeback for Season 3 last Fall before taking a hiatus, Re:Zero is now back in action with the second half of its third season this Winter. After all of the build up last Fall, it’s just one big fight after another in the latest epsiodes.

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Counterattack Arc has been showcasing how Subaru and the others are now facing off against the Witch’s Cult members, and the newest episode shifted its focus back to the fight between Garfiel Tinzel and the eight armed revived swordsman, Kurgan. The two of them have been going back and forth through the arc thus far, and now this fight has come to an end thanks to an awesome scene brought to life by Vincent Chansard, a major animator behind some of One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen‘s coolest fight scenes.

What Happens in Garfiel vs. Kurgan?

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 3 Episode 13 sees Garfiel continuing his fight against Kurgan, and he’s been struggling the entire time. It’s revealed that Kurgan comes from a race of four armed fighters, but was ostracized due to being born with eight arms. Despite all of that, he demonstrated his strength by defending his village all by himself. Garfiel also learns that if Kurgan doesn’t use all of his chosen swords in battle, then he doesn’t recognize his opponent as strong. So Garfiel is facing an uphill battle in a number of different ways.

When Kurgan knocks him into one of the underground spots where people are hiding, he sees the young children he bonded with before. With them cheering him on, Garfiel decides that he needs to defeat his opponent once and for all. This gets Kurgan to recognize his strength, and this lead to the cool animated scene that brings about the end of their fight. Thankfully, Garfiel was successful and was able to defeat Kurgan while also getting the legendary figure to recognize him as a warrior. It’s Garfiel’s biggest victory in the series to date.

What’s Next for Re:Zero?

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Counterattack Arc is only scheduled to run for eight episodes, and that means the final episode of the season is rapidly approaching. As the Winter 2025 anime releases start wrapping up their respective runs as well, Re:Zero Season 3 is getting ready for its own explosive finale. There have been some big hits to the Witch’s Cult over the course of this half after everything that happened last Fall, and it really seems like Subaru and the others are really close to an actual victory.

But as seen with Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World– in the past, Subaru and the others really shouldn’t be comfortable until they are fully safe and clear from all of these fights. Regardless, this has been the most action-packed arc of the series to date as each episode has been filled with some big fights and action scenes. It was already a good looking series, but the latest episode has gone to a whole new level thanks to animators like Chansard who are able to take that even further. Now it’s time to see what’s coming next.

The last year or so has seen many of Shueisha’s top series including My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen conclude their serialization. Readers everywhere were left unsure as to the future of Shonen Jump and which new manga would rise to take the place of these global giants, with top contenders being Osamu Nishi’s Ichi the Witch and Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi. That said, there may have been no need to worry after all as Jujutsu Kaisen just proved that it’s still one of Shonen Jump’s best-selling series of the era and the love surrounding the franchise has not died one bit since the story’s conclusion.

A recent post on X by WSJ_manga reveals that Jujutsu Kaisen is still in the top ten of Oricon’s weekly comic sales ranking. The hit battle shonen manga by Gege Akutami has been ranked seventh for the last week of February with 44,388 copies sold, most of these being of Volume 30, which was released on December 25th, 2024. Don’t forget, 2024 was the year that saw JJK dominate runner-up One Piece’s sales by a 2 million volume margin. As per Oricon, Jujutsu Kaisen is also ranked eighth for the entire month of February. Both of these rankings are quite an impressive feat considering the series released its final chapter way back in September, with the final volume having released well over two months ago.

Jujutsu Kaisen is Still Flying Off the Shelves

Jujutsu Kaisen, for nearly the entire six years of its serialization, was considered one of the major pillars of Shonen Jump, with its popularity taking off on a global scale with the anime’s release in 2020. After 271 glorious chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen sadly concluded on September 29th, 2024, and though there were inevitably those unsatisfied with the series’ ending, fans, for the most part, were sad to see the series go.

Jujutsu Kaisen even became one of the few illustrious manga series to reach 100 million copies in circulation back in September, and it seems the series’ popularity has not died down once bit since then. Since the release of the final two volumes in December of last year, Jujutsu Kaisen has consistently remained in the top ten of Oricon’s weekly rankings and though it has fallen to the bottom five in the last month or so, the series’ weekly sales numbers are nothing to scoff at, ranging anywhere between 30-50 thousand copies.

Jujutsu Kaisen Itadori Yuji
Studio MAPPA

It is difficult to say whether the series will be able to keep this momentum for another month or more. Having said that, with the franchise still thriving on the anime side of things, Jujutsu Kaisen will most definitely continue raking in the money for Shueisha, both in terms of licensing and Blu-ray sales for years to come. Jujutsu Kaisen’s enduring popularity only goes to show the profound impact the series has had on fans for the last few years and that perhaps Shuiesha doesn’t necessarily need to scramble to find its next big hit just yet.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read from Manga Plus and Viz Media.

The anime industry has never been bigger but there are still many problems that persist within it. Studio MAPPA has had quite a few controversies surrounding its work in recent years despite making a name for itself with anime adaptations of Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, and many more. In a recent interview with MAPPA Vice President Hiroya Hasegawa, the executive discussed the problems that remain a part of the anime world and how the studio is hoping to address both future challenges inside and outside of its workforce.

When it comes to bolstering the industry itself, MAPPA’s Vice President listed some of the ways that the production house is looking to aid its own “human resources” department, “The animation production department is planning to actively hire new graduates, expand the scope of work while checking aptitude, and give them opportunities as soon as possible starting next year. Also, we want to think about a way of education where one person can equally transfer their skills to multiple people, so we are currently considering various things.”

MAPPA

Anime Challenges

Hasegawa also detailed the challenges facing both Studio MAPPA and the anime industry as a whole at the moment, even with the medium being bigger than ever before, “There are a lot of challenges, but not just at MAPPA, in recent years, unlike when we joined, more people are now casually involved with animation, so when they actually get involved in anime production, there are many cases where a gap is created, such as the world being different from what they imagined. That being said, there’s no point in actively promoting that animation is difficult, so I’m thinking about how to fill that gap. In terms of work style, I get the impression that there are more people in the production field who want to separate work and private life and balance it than before. In line with the times, it’s important that companies don’t leave it up to individuals to work in a way that doesn’t balance, and that they don’t allow it.”

Finally, the Vice President had a message for those looking to enter the anime industry and how to bounce back from failure, “You may have the opportunity to learn about the commercial anime we make at vocational schools and universities, but you won’t be able to learn about production on this scale through practical training, so it will be your first try after joining a company. It’s rare to get it right the first time, so don’t think you’re not suited to it after one failure. There are far fewer people who get it right from the start, so I think it’s best to be patient and try your best in the hope that you’ll grow.”

MAPPA’s Issues

When it comes to Studio MAPPA, the production house has been legendary thanks to the high quality of its animation and the sheer number of projects it has released in a relatively short amount of time. Unfortunately, this reputation comes with a price as many animators for the company have reported the harsh working conditions of bringing some of your favorite anime to life. Perhaps most notably, Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season was rife with reports from MAPPA employees of the harsh deadlines and conditions that were needed to create the Shibuya Incident Arc. Fingers crossed that the production house will take lessons learned from its controversies and work toward creating a better work environment for its animators.

Fan-favorite characters like Gojo, Yuji, Choso, Sukuna and more are included in this drop and there are a ton of exclusives to collect. While the Jujutsu Kaisen manga came to a close last year, fans are still eagerly awaiting season 3 of the hit anime show. Jujutsu Kaisen was expecting to start promoting the show again this month, so when the Valentine’s Day promo arrived fans weren’t surprised by the new photos and merch. What might’ve been surprising was the ‘ship they decided to focus on

TOHO Animation used the Valentine’s Day holiday to celebrate the adorable Gojo and Geto. The company has an official account on X solely for promoting and circulating the merch released by the TOHO Animation goods team and they announced they’d be accepting preorders of Gojo and Geto stuffed toys on Valentine’s Day.

While Gojo and Geto are not a canon romantic ship, their relationship of childhood best friends who become sworn enemies is a great story, and fans clung on. SatoSugu became one of the most popular ships in the fandom, so maybe it really isn’t a wonder why Toho Animation would choose them as their promo pair. Friends to enemies is one of the best tropes around.

One of the most popular manga of recent times, Jujutsu Kaisen, reached its conclusion in September 2024 and released the Japanese version of the final Volumes 29 and 30 in December of the same year. The manga still hasn’t announced the release date of the English version. Additionally, fans are still awaiting the third season of the anime. MAPPA has yet to announce a release window, even though the second season concluded in December 2023. Season 3 will continue the story after the tragic Shibuya Incident Arc.

The villains succeed in trapping Gojo inside the Prison Realm while the Sorceres not only attempt to free him but also fight against the villains. Whether it’s Tokyo or the Jujutsu society, everything is in chaos going into the Culling Game. After the Shibuya Incident ended with unimaginable casualties, the top brass declared Gojo a traitor. They also plan to execute Yuji by Yuta’s hands. However, even this won’t stop Gojo’s students from fighting for their beloved Sensei. Unfortunately, things will continue to spiral down in the Culling Game Arc as the manga introduces more characters. The arc also has some of the best fights in the series, and one fan has just made an incredible animation of Hakari vs Kashimo.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga!

Jujutsu Kaisen Fan Animates Hakari vs Kashimo

In the 25-second video, we see Jujutsu Kaisen’s Hakari and Kashimo running around and attacking one another in an accurate, stylized fan-animated production. The presentation is black and white and extremely fluid, even having voiceovers and impressive sound design. The animator is a popular artist on X and YouTube. The video quickly went viral on both platforms.

Hakari is a third-year student who was suspended after getting into a physical altercation with a conservative member of the Jujutsu higher-ups due to a disagreement. Although his name was mentioned in the first season of the anime, Hakari will properly debut in the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen. In the Perfect Preparation Arc of the manga, Yuji and Megumi approach him in hopes of having him fight on their side.

Jujutsu Kaisen Kashimo Hakari
Shonen Jump

It takes a while for them to convince Hakari, but he proves to be a worthy ally. The Culling Game Arc, which is a brutal battle royale that Kenjkau started, includes several thrilling fights. Hakari fights Kashimo, a reincarnated sorcerer from over 400 years ago. The fight continues from Chapter 186 to 190, with both sides using flashy techniques and enjoying the thrill of a battle.

Hakari proves why Gojo believes he is one of the students, along with Yuta and Yuji, with the ability to surpass him. The fight ends with Kashimo’s defeat, but the young sorcerer refuses to kill his opponent. Hakari believes this barely counts as a victory since he gave it his all while Kashimo didn’t even use his Cursed Technique. Kashimo’s technique is a double-edged sword, as it will instantly kill him after one use. Thus, he saves that one chance to fight against Sukuna and fulfill his dream in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, as any other use would not be worth it.

Adam McArthur has been in some of the biggest anime and animated releases in recent memory, and ComicBook recently got the chance to speak with the voice actor about some of his biggest roles so far. Anime fans might recognize McArthur as the voice behind some key English dub releases of anime such as Kaiju No. 8, Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers and more. Chances are if you have been watching anime in the last few years specifically, then you have heard McArthur in some of the biggest roles. So big that we just had to ask McArthur all about his experiences.

McArthur recently sat down with ComicBook and we got the chance to ask him all about some of the bigger hits of his long career such as his take on Reno Ichikawa in Kaiju No. 8, Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen (and surprisingly in a Megan Thee Stallion track), and even went further back to ask about his time as Marco Diaz in Star vs. the Forces of the Evil.

Read on below for our interview (which has been edited for length and clarity) with Adam McArthur celebrating some of his biggest roles, and let us know how you feel in the comments!

Photographer: Matt Kallish @matt_kallish / Grooming: Rachel Nicole @acebyrach

NICK VALDEZ, COMICBOOK: Right now, you’re involved with one of the biggest Kaiju blockbusters we’ve seen with Kaiju No. 8. It’s had a huge release in terms of not only getting the dub at the same time as the original, but we’re also seeing it on X. For you who’s at the center of all of this, how do you feel seeing the response to Kaiju No. 8 so far?

ADAM MCARTHUR: Kaiju No. 8 is the perfect example of cohesive marketing. It’s amazing because, it doesn’t happen very often in anime, weirdly. And that’s not necessarily a critique or anything like that. It’s just when you’re licensing stuff from Japan and it’s here, you have hoops to jump through for promoting here. It has to have approval here, and then it also has to have approval in Japan. So sometimes rollouts of these shows can be very clunky. And with Kaiju No. 8 everything just seems to be firing on all cylinders, and it’s really, really cool.

Everything on this show from the music, to the action, to the characters, to the story…I tell people one of the things I love most about it is you can get attached to the characters because they don’t die. So you know the stakes are still high, but it’s not like other shows that I’ve been a part of where you know your favorite character is gone the next week. It’s been really cool to be a part of this show, and having bands like One Republic, and artists like Youngblood be a part of the the music. I think it’s bringing in a lot of people who might not necessarily, have watched before.

It’s really felt like a worldwide celebration. You star as the deuteragonist, Reno Ichikawa, who is pretty much the real second in command. Even though Kafka is the guy who turns into Kaiju No. 8, Reno is a lot of the heart of the series. So what has been your favorite Ichikawa moment so far?

There’s so many fun moments. This show actually really caught me off guard. I didn’t know I was gonna be working on it, up until a couple of weeks before and and a couple of weeks after Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 had ended, I got cast. I was very excited. I knew it was gonna be cool, but I hadn’t done a super deep dive into the manga at that point. I knew it was gonna be cool, but what caught me off guard was how funny it is. The show is so funny, and Kafka and Reno are truly like an odd couple, and their dynamic together, I think, like you said, just has so much heart.

My favorite Reno moment is probably right after Kafka swallows the Kaiju in the hospital and they break out of the hospital. There’s that whole running sequence where, if you haven’t seen the show and you’re reading this, Kafka pees out of his nipples. That’s a thing that happens. So there’s that. There’s just the realization of the craziness that they’re gonna be getting into with this new transformation, and it’s so much fun.

© JAKDF 3rd Division © Naoya Matsumoto/SHUEISHA

[Kaiju No. 8] Season 2 is coming up later this year. What are you hoping to see for Ichikawa? Now that you’ve gone through a whole season with him and got to explore his character a bit, what are you hoping to see next?

I’m excited for Ichikawa to keep leveling up. I think him and Kafka both have their journeys to go through. And I think, while Ichikawa’s resolve is strong and he’ll never give up, and that’s his thing, I think he has a long ways to go to reach his full potential. So I’m excited to see maybe more of what gives him that mindset, maybe some backstory. I always love when an author and an anime put characters in really tough positions, and we get to see how they react and how they get out of those. So I would like to see Ichikawa in some some tough positions.

I’m curious as to your approach to anime dubbing in general. You’ve mentioned reading the manga [with Kaiju No.8], is that something you do when signed on to a role? What kind of research do you do before jumping into a new role?

It really depends. I try and do as much of a deep dive as I can. I feel it’s really important as an actor to be connected to the source material, and to have that knowledge. I also have peers who prefer to be surprised when they’re in the booth. They want to have a surprise reaction when they’re acting. But for me, I like to know where the the story is headed so that I can maybe pepper in some foreshadowing here and there. It helps me understand why a scene is in place if I know what the payoff is later. So I feel like it’s important to do that.

So for shows like Kaiju No. 8 where I’m coming in at the beginning, as soon as I got cast, boom, I started reading the manga. Made sure I knew what was going on, who is Ichikawa, what he’s all about, what’s his relationship like with Kafka. And, same thing for Jujutsu Kaisen. The other thing I try not to pay too much attention to…these shows both have had so much hype prior to them releasing, which can be a hindrance, and I try to ignore it. But where I do let it impact me is I got to make sure I’m prepared. I can’t go in and just be like, “Ah well, we’ll see what happens.” So I do try and and read the source material and be ready.

Some shows, it’s just simply not possible. For example, I voice a character named [Saigiku Jouno] in Bungo Stray Dogs, and he comes in Season 5. I got the call, I think at like 9PM the night before they needed me in the session at 9AM. And I’m like, “Alright. There’s no way I’m reading all of Bungo Stray Dogs tonight or watching four and a half seasons of anime to try and get caught up.” So in that case, I’m very reliant on the director who’s been with the project since the beginning, and them to sort of help guide me and guide the performance. Those are always kind of the scarier sessions because you are really relinquishing control, and it becomes even more collaborative than animation already is. But, yeah, it sort of just depends on the project.

The Jujutsu Kaisen of it all is very interesting in terms of the kind of the pressures you’ve faced as not only did it have hype beforehand, but it kind of hit a whole new scale following Season 2. As Yuji Itadori himself, how are you feeling right now after absorbing it all? How is it sitting with you?

Right now, I would say I’m sitting in a pretty good spot. I feel very proud of the work the cast did for Season 2. I think we all really did a great job, and I’m very critical. I’m very critical. My castmates, I think they’re all stellar no matter what they do. But I’m very critical of myself, and Jujutsu Kaisen was a beast. Going into Season 1, the context of it all for us was it was October of 2020, so we were in the thick of COVID. Everyone’s recording from their home. And for me, it was a brand new studio, a brand new director, and a brand new genre. It was the first anime I had ever worked in.

So stepping into the booth with all of that happening and mind you, because we’re recording from home on our own, we’re not only actors. We’re also now audio engineers handling the audio we’re sending to the studios as they record remotely and all this stuff, so it was a lot of pressure for Season One. I would say that I didn’t necessarily know how much I could decide on my own about how I wanted things to sound tonally and how I wanted them to go. I feel like you hear a little shift.

Side note, every new show that happens there’s an adjustment period for the actors. If you go back to Friends, you’re like “Wow, they’re really different than they end up.” So I have to be a little gracious with myself, but I do feel like I settled in probably around episode four or five of Season One. Then tonally, I just feel like with the Shibuya Incident and the Hidden Inventory arc, everyone was just delivering fantastic performances week over week. It’s been good, but it’s a lot of pressure. It is a lot of pressure, but it’s a lot of fun, I think.

Yuji goes through some really rough stuff in [Jujutsu Kaisen] Season 2, so as a performer, where do you go to dig into those dark places? Because he’s going through some really tough emotions.

It’s tough, man. The first scene that’s the big tough one in Season 2 is when Sukuna gives Yuji back his body, and he sees the devastation that Sukuna has caused. And, obviously, I’ve never leveled a portion of Tokyo, so it’s hard to relate on the scale that it happened in. But I will say what I try and do is I think about what Yuji’s feeling in that moment. And to me, Yuji’s feeling an immense amount of guilt and, how could he have done this? But guilt was sort of this thing that I kept going back to. The actor’s job is to sort of bridge the gap between you and the character. Well, the thing is, coincidentally, I’ve felt an immense amount of guilt throughout my life. I think we all have and everyone can relate.

I do think that’s why that moment is so relatable and so impactful. But for me, I sort of just have to think about those times where I felt those things and, what it meant to not only me, but what it meant to the people around me and why I was feeling that way. Then when I go into the booth and I’m recording those lines, those emotions that I’ve just sort of not re-lived, but that I can remember and that I’ve experienced in my life, they’re just available to call upon during those moments. It was really important for me to make sure that all of the difficult, emotional, tearful scenes with Yuji felt really real and not like an anime main character crying. You know? I wanted people to know that I was leaving the booth, and bursting into tears in my car because it’s just so heavy.

I feel like it all turned out really, really well. There’s a few episodes back to back that had stuff like that. And so it was interesting because, I’d go in and I’d record for sometimes 20 minutes because that portion of that episode is such a short thing. That’s all Yuji’s in the episode for. So my session was fifteen, twenty minutes long. You go in with all this emotion kind of ready to draw on, and you do this really emotional scene. And then the director clicks the button, and they’re like, “Alright. Thank you so much. Great job, Adam. I’ll see you next week.” It was a little more somber than that at that point.

But it’s just a really interesting thing. I have to leave and get in my car, go home and pretend like everything’s normal and I’m fine, and then be ready to be in that headspace the week after. At the end of Season Two, I was like “I finally understand why actors need a break from certain characters,” And, I was like, “Can I just do a romance anime? Where’s Food Wars when you need it? Give me a cooking show or something. But then Kaiju No. 8 came came along, and I got to have a lot of fun with that one. So it all works.

Speaking of fun, as Yuji you got to have a little bit of fun in a pretty prominent way with Megan Thee Stallion for “Otaku Hot Girl.” How did that even come together? Were you approached by her team? Talk me through the process a little bit.

Well, Nick, I’m a rap god, and they listened to my mixtape, which dropped. I’m just kidding. So back in 2021, the episode came out of Jujutsu Kaisen where Todo asked Yuji, “What kind of woman’s your type?” And he said, “I like a tall woman with a nice big ass like Jennifer Lawrence.” So when that came out, I like to pay attention to what fan reactions are and what the fans are saying about episodes. I feel very much like this is a community we’re all equal participants in. So I like to be in there and see what’s going on.

I saw that there was a group of people who were like, “You know, Jennifer Lawrence, nothing against her.” I mean, I think she’s fine. But they were, like, “Tall, big ass. We could do better than this. What about Megan Thee Stallion?” And I was like, “Listen. I’m a man of the people.” If the people are gonna request it, I have to respond. So I went into my home studio, and I re-dubbed myself saying, “I like a tall woman with a nice big ass like Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion,” and that video has lived on my TikTok and Twitter since 2021. Basically, the long and short of it is they licensed the audio from my post and used it in her track. That’s how it all came to be.

I would say that probably the funniest part is I didn’t know what was happening until the song was out. I wasn’t aware that it was happening. All of this stuff was happening behind the scenes. I’m sitting at home one Thursday night. Like, I had just finished dinner. It might have been around, 9:00 or something like that. My phone just started blowing up and everyone was, “Congratulations. Congratulations, Ninja Mac” on all this stuff. “Oh my god. I can’t believe Ninja Mac’s on a Megan Thee Stallion song.” And I was like, “What are they talking about?” Then shortly, obviously, a little Internet sleuthing that didn’t take more than twenty seconds, found out that they had, used the audio, and it was being licensed. And, yeah, I’m on a Megan Thee Stallion song, which is just crazy.

That’s not something everybody could say.

Yeah, trust me. That’s why I’m leaning into it. That’s why my auto response is that I’m a rap god now.

Disney Television Animation

Rounding out the questions here, one of the roles that I know you very well for is Marco Diaz in Star vs. the Forces of Evil. I love the show, but it’s been so long since it ended. I do have to ask as there are shows that come back with reboots, sequels, or other projects. I saw you’ve done work with Chibiverse as the character, so if there ever was a full Star vs. the Forces of Evil revival, is that something you’d be interested in returning for?

There’s zero question in my mind about what I would do in that situation. I would 100% come back to voice Marco. This year is our ten year anniversary of its premiere, and it’s the six year anniversary of it finishing. You know the way it ended left so much else to be done and I think the show has legs. If Disney wanted to do a movie or a miniseries or something like that, the fandom would go crazy. So, yeah, like I said, I’m a man of the people. I want to do it. I know that people would love it.

I hear all the time from fans how much the show means to them and how special it was, and I do truly believe that it was a unicorn show for Disney. No pun intended. But I do think that it was. Gravity Falls was also one of these shows, but it came right on the heels of Gravity Falls, and so a lot of those fans came to Star. It was just a really special time in the type of shows that Disney was making. And from it we saw shows like Amphibia and The Owl House go on to tell these serialized, episodic shows that are not very common in for “kids animation.” I hope at some point we get to do some more of it. I’d love to see what Star and Marco are up to. I have my theories about magic and if it’s really gone, who the real villain is, and what what we could see.

Just as a fan, what would you want to see from Marco if they came back with something new?

We’re in a whole new location. Earth and Mewni have collided. Star and Marco are together. I think it would be really interesting to see what would happen if magic wasn’t actually destroyed, but maybe it was just dispersed. And maybe Toffee is actually back and kind of helped orchestrate all this. He wanted magic spread out because then it meant that it would be harder to actually defeat him. And Mina Loveberry, who we met as the villain in the end of Season 4, was actually a big distraction. Star and Marco realized magic’s not dead and they have to go on this quest to restore what little there is left to defeat Toffee. I just think it would be so cool.

We could do that with maybe a little time skip, so they’re a little bit older. I mean, anime is so popular now and Star had such an influence from shows like Sailor Moon that it might be cool to just switch up the genre and do something a little bit more anime. That’d be so cool. There’s just so much potential. It would be so cool for, I don’t know, Disney to wake up and utilize it. Maybe they are! I don’t know. They don’t tell me, I’m just an actor. Maybe right now [series creator Daron Nefcy]’s at Disney, and she’s writing something that I don’t know about. It’s all possible.

To say there can be some toxicity within the anime and manga community might be a bit of an understatement. For every fan who adores and appreciates what they’re reading/watching, there’s someone who takes their displeasure with creative choices, character decisions, artwork, or dialogue too far, attempting to contact the team behind it with malicious messages. This is especially true with major series like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen, and some veteran manga translators have recently opened up about the backlash they often unfairly receive because of their work.

During an interview with Gizmodo, veteran manga letterers Stephen Paul (One Piece), David Evelyn (Undead Unlock), and Casey Loe (Spy x Family) discussed their work and the misconceptions fans have about how manga translating actually works. “[Fans] think it’s just like one shadowy person pulling the strings and making sure they don’t have a good time,” David Evelyn said of the misconceptions about their jobs. “Most people don’t even know that there’s a translation team working on something.”

Several Manga Translators Have Been Bullied Off Social Media

“It definitely happens more with combat and big [shonen] series,” Stephen Paul said. As well as translating One Piece, Paul also works on the English translations for Akane-banashi and Vinland Saga. His work on Akane-banashi “could not be more different from One Piece,” Paul revealed, partly due to the lack of scanlations for Akane-banashi, but also because that show’s fan base isn’t caught up “arguing over stuff.”

“It’s a different type of series, so it doesn’t necessarily engender that kind of argument,” Paul continued. “I would say passion, but passion can cross the line. [Argument] is definitely more prevalent for big battle series, for sure.” David Evelyn agreed and revealed how the intense backlash from fans can stop translators (who are also major fans of the series) from interacting with the fan base. “It’s very unfair,” Paul said. “Some translators want to interact with the community and show trivia and language choices and it will immediately get sh-t on by the majority of people.”

In the past, this has led several manga translators to step away from social media due to intense backlash from fans. Stephen Paul recalled My Hero Academia’s translator, Caleb Cook, who once frequently interacted with fans of the series, but had to stop after online harassment became too much. “[Cook] used to talk about all of his choices on Twitter for every chapter,” Paul said. “And then people had disagreements about stuff, and they would bother him. Eventually, he just got sick of it, locked his account, and moved on.”

Even Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Voice Cast Piled Onto the Translation Hate

It’s one thing for fans to unfairly pile onto manga translators, but it’s even worse when the English voice cast of the anime adaptation joins in. That’s what happened to John Werry, the long-time translator of Jujutsu Kaisen. Werry was repeatedly the target of online hate from fans. But, Adam McArthur, who voices Yuji Itadori in the show’s English dub, piled on in 2024, sharing a meme that took shots at Werry’s translation — ironically, he spelled Werry’s surname wrong.

“It broke my heart because [McArthur] didn’t have to do that,” Evelyn commented on the incident. “What are you gonna gain from that aside from a few thousand likes on Elon Musk’s masturbation platform? We’re only a single person. We can only do so much.”

The solution should be simple: for manga readers to better educate themselves on how the industry actually works, and to understand that the online profiles they’re anonymously attacking online are all run by real people. Unfortunately, asking the internet to be a kinder place is as futile as expecting a good Junji Ito anime adaptation.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga reached its conclusion in September 2024, and the final volumes were released in December of the same year. Volume 30 wrapped up the story with a heartwarming epilogue. The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who is suddenly forced into the world of Jujutsu and curses. Yuji enrolls in the Jujutsu Tech High School thanks to Satoru Gojo, a Jujutsu instructor. Gojo is one of the most beloved characters of modern manga, and his relationship with Suguru Geto is one of the fan favorites.

Although the manga has ended, fans are eagerly awaiting Season 3 of the anime. JJK has a vibrant and dedicated fanbase, looking forward to all kinds of latest news and updates about the series. As Valentine’s Day is already here, TOHO Animation is promoting adorable Gojo and Geto merch on Valentine’s Day. The company has an official account on X solely for promoting and circulating the merch released by the TOHO Animation goods team. They announced they are accepting preorders of Gojo and Geto stuffed toys on Valentine’s Day.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo has a tragic backstory, with Suguru Geto playing a major role in his life. The prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, doesn’t go into the depth of their relationship, but we find out the two used to be best friends. Something went wrong during their younger years, which made Geto betray the Jujutsu society and turn against everyone, including Gojo. Killing Geto by his own hands was one of Gojo’s greatest regrets in life. In the Gojo’s Past Arc of the manga, we finally learn the tragic truth that led to their separation. The two of them were best friends in high school and called themselves the “strongest duo.”

However, after Riko’s death and realizing the brutality of the Jujutsu world, Geto continued to spiral down into depression. His Cursed Technique only worked if he swallowed curses. Those curses not only tasted disgusting, but he also absorbed their negative emotions. After seeing two young girls with cursed energy being treated brutally by a village, Geto snapped and massacred the village. He then parted ways with his dear friend Gojo and walked the path of evil. There are many instances of why the two continued to care for one another even after years. Fans love the tragic twist between the two and often ship them together.

Solo Leveling‘s anime adaptation is quickly establishing itself as one of the behemoths of the action genre, and its latest achievement only adds to that fact. Based on the manhwa of the same name by Chu-Gong, the anime is currently airing its second season, with new episodes being released weekly on Saturdays on Crunchyroll. The latest episode saw Sung Jinwoo go all-out in an A-ranked dungeon, with his battered and bruised party watching in pure shock. The episode featured one of the best fights in the entire series so far, which is one of many reasons why fans are proclaiming Solo Leveling to be the new peak.

Solo Leveling fever has spread across the internet, with fans almost immediately making memes and comparing it to other popular anime the moment a new episode drops. As is the case with any popular series, Solo Leveling is already being compared to hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, which has its own die-hard fan base of staunch defenders. The competition between Solo Leveling and various other action series is purely subjective among fans. But, in one metric, it already has Jujutsu Kaisen and almost every other series beat.

Solo Leveling Breaks Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Record on Crunchyroll

Solo Leveling is now the third most-rated series of all time on Crunchyroll. A-1 Pictures’ phenomenal anime currently holds a staggering 496,820 user ratings and counting. The series recently overtook Jujutsu Kaisen, which, at the time of writing, holds 490,416 ratings. Incredibly, of those ratings, Solo Leveling also boasts more 5-star reviews from its viewers. Of all of Solo Leveling‘s ratings, 96% of them (roughly 476,947) are 5 stars. Meanwhile, Jujutsu Kaisen is rated just slightly worse, with 94% of its ratings (roughly 460,991) rated 5 stars.

But, Solo Leveling still has a long way to go before it takes the silver medal. The immensely popular Demon Slayer holds second place, with a total of 574,969 ratings (95% of which are 5 stars). Beating Demon Slayer‘s total is an achievable feat for Solo Leveling, especially considering there are still seven episodes left in the new season, while Demon Slayer fans still don’t know when the upcoming Infinity Castle movie will be released.

It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that One Piece currently holds the top spot as the most-rated anime series on Crunchyroll. At the time of writing, One Piece has 582,771 ratings on the streamer (95% of which are positive). With such a small margin between Demon Slayer and One Piece, there is a conceivable world where Solo Leveling overtakes them both to become the most-rated series on Crunchyroll.

Solo Leveling‘s Latest Episode Gives Sung Jinwoo a New Rank

Sung Jinwoo started Solo Leveling as the “Weakest Hunter in the World,” a nickname that was appropriate in the first two episodes. But, having just watched the man tear through an army of High Orcs with his Shadow Monarch powers, that name no longer feels appropriate. Episode 7, which releases this Saturday, is finally putting Sung’s leveled-up powers on full display to the world.

“The 10th S-Rank Hunter” will finally give Sung Jinwoo the official title of being an S-Rank hunter, after his reawakening test earlier in the season. The official description for the new episode reads, “Jinwoo, who single-handedly cleared one of the highest-ranked A-class dungeons, was reassessed and became the tenth S-class hunter in the country. Ignoring the attention from many people, he once again challenges the conquest of the ‘Demon’s Castle.'”

Jujutsu Kaisen is hardly a story that focuses on love, with the supernatural shonen series routinely giving fans some of the hardest hitting battles in the anime world. With fans waiting for the third season to hit the small screen, the manga released its final chapter last year. Despite Yuji Itadori and his fellow students at Jujutsu Tech bringing their story to an end, that isn’t stopping the work of Gege Akutami from finding new ways to enter the public zeitgeist. This Valentine’s Day, Jujutsu Kaisen has a brand new promotion that has to be seen to be believed.

Japan has seen many anime franchises creating real world events. My Hero Academia, One Piece, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and many other series have created “pop-up stores” to offer new merchandise that otherwise might never have seen the light of day. For Jujutsu Kaisen, the upcoming collaboration arriving on Valentine’s Day isn’t the first time that we’ve seen an event focused on Jujutsu Tech in Japan but there’s never been one quite like this. The supernatural shonen series might have its fair share of brutal moments and character deaths but it certainly knows how to be light-hearted when it needs to be.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Valentine’s Day Bonanza

The Japanese event will take place at the amusement park dubbed the Yokohama Cosmo World. Beginning this Friday, February 14th, Cosmo World will offer several new pieces of Jujutsu Kaisen merchandise, along with brand new drinks and food based on the world of Jujutsu Tech. You can check out more about the upcoming collaboration on the event’s official site by clicking here, and if you want to check it out for yourself, you have until March 31st this spring to do so.

Obviously, North America does not have a Yokohama Cosmo World of its own but Jujutsu Kaisen fans are in for some good news when it comes to Jujutsu Tech. Universal Studios is bringing the event, Jujutsu Kaisen: Hunger of The Cursed, to its Hollywood location beginning on April 25th this year. Lasting until May 18th this summer, the anime event is only for a limited time but the fact that this is hitting the West at all is a big sign that the anime world is continuing a major trend upward for American anime fans.

Jujutsu Tech’s Future

As mentioned previously, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga has ended with creator Gege Akutami making no allusions to continuing the series via a sequel and/or spin-off. While Akutami has hinted at the idea that they will return to the manga world with a new project, no word has been released regarding what that new story will be. On the anime front, season three is on the way from Studio MAPPA, though the release date for the start of the Culling Game remains a mystery.

Fortnite has traversed countless universes in allowing players to enter the Battle Bus, and anime franchises are no exception. In recent years, anime series such as Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Naruto, and even Kaiju No. 8 have received skins in what is considered one of the biggest video games of all time. While Jujutsu Kaisen has already lent the likenesses of heroes such as Gojo, Yuji, Nobora, and Megumi, it’s time for Jujutsu Tech’s greatest villains to get in on the multiplayer game. Thanks to a new trailer, you can see what the likes of Sukuna, Mahito, and Toji look like with this fresh makeover.

To give you a refresher, or an introduction, to the Jujutsu Kaisen villains, Sukuna and Mahito played a big role in the anime’s first season, throwing some major monkey wrenches into the lives of Yuji Itadori and his allies. It was during the second season where anime fans were introduced to Toji, the nefarious father of Megumi Fushiguro, and got a better look at the horrifying machinations of Mahito and Sukuna. In the Hidden Inventory Arc, we were introduced to Toji as he fought against Gojo and Geto in their younger years. During the Shibuya Incident Arc, all three villains played a big role as the supernatural world tore itself apart thanks to Gojo being trapped inside of the Prison Realm.

The Battle Bus Gets More Fiendish

The skins and new items associated with Jujutsu Kaisen’s dark side are currently available on the Fortnite store. You can buy all ten items for around 3,800 V-Bucks, which is around $28 USD, but the items can also be bought separately if you have your eye on one particular antagonist or cosmetic. You might want to make a decision on whether you’ll pull the trigger soon as these items will only be available until February 14th at 8PM Eastern.

For a closer look at the cosmetic items available, you can check out the list below (along with a brand new trailer for the anime collaboration from Fortnite):

  • Ryomen Sukuna (Outfit)
  • Mahito (Outfit)
  • Toji Fushiguro (Outfit)
  • Malevolent Kitchen (Back Bling)
  • Self-Embodiment Of Perfection (Back Bling)
  • Playful Cloud (Back Bling)
  • Fire Arrow (Emote)
  • Hypnotic Hands (Emote)
  • Idle Transfiguration Blade (Pickaxe)
  • Prison Relam (Wrap + Reactive + Animated)

The Jujustu Kaisen Curse

Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to the video game world. It’s recent fighting game, Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash, was panned by both critics and regular gamers alike. With shonen franchises like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece having plenty of amazing games in their rosters, fingers crossed that Yuji Itadori and his fellow students at Jujutsu Tech get a video game worthy of the series.

On the anime front, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga ended last year but the anime adaptation still has some big events to bring to life. The third anime season has already been confirmed and it’s highly likely that future seasons and/or movies will be released. With the anime set to introduce quite a few new characters during the upcoming Culling Game arc, it is entirely possible that Fortnite could introduce more of the supernatural shonen universe to its Battle Bus.

Supernatural anime series in the medium have always been big ticket items. Series like Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, and Blue Exorcist are but a few examples of shows that have taken off by incorporating heroes with the great beyond. Perhaps two of the biggest series in recent years have been Dandadan and Jujutsu Kaisen, anime adaptations that create amazing battles by incorporating deadly spirits into the mix. In a surprising turn of events, the two stories have seemingly been overtaken by a surprise rival that just so happens to have nothing to do with the supernatural.

Another genre that starts with the letter “s” that has been taking the anime world by storm are sports anime. Franchises like Hajime no Ippo, Blue Lock, Haikyu, and Slam Dunk take the action of the medium and translate it to their respective athletes. Earlier this year, an anime adaptation arrive for the manga known as “Medalist” which focuses on ice skating. Brought to life by Studio ENGi for Disney+, the series first began from creator Tsurumaikada in 2020, meaning that it could have a long anime life ahead of it. In a shocking twist, the ice skating manga series was able to overcome both Dandadan and Jujutsu Kaisen in overall copies sold for the end of January.

MAPPA, Science Saru, ENGI

Medalist Skates Its Way To The Top

From January 20th to the 26th last month, Medalist sold around 94,333 copies, giving it the slightest of leads over Dandadan. The supernatural anime series that received an anime adaptation from Science SARU came in second place with 93,164. In third place, Jujutsu Kaisen garnered 82,032, though considering its anime is currently on hiatus following season two’s conclusion, the lower sales make sense here.

You can catch the first episodes of Medalist on Disney+ right now, with the streaming service offering the following official description, “Tsukasa Akeuraji, a frustrated skater, meets a girl called Inori Yuitsuka, who is yearning to enter the world of figure skating. Motivated by Inori’s obsession on the rink, Tsukasa takes on coaching Inori himself. Inori’s talent blossoms, and Tsukasa becomes a brilliant mentor. Together they aim to make her a glorious medalist!”

Disney+ Is Gaining Ground in The Anime Game

As anime only grows bigger with each passing year, it should come as no surprise that Disney’s streaming platform is attempting to give subscribers exclusive content of its own. Star Wars: Visions remains one of the biggest examples of Disney taking one of their biggest franchises and finally introducing it to the anime world, with the first two seasons becoming such a success that a third is in the works. While not exclusively on Disney+, the studio has numerous seasons that it drops onto Hulu, the streaming service also owned by the House of Mouse.

Hulu currently has the likes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Undead Unluck, Tokyo Revengers, Summer Time Rendering, Sand Land, Heavenly Delusion, and Go! Go! Loser Ranger! as a part of its library. Later this year, expect more anime to arrive on both services as Disney+ has confirmed that the likes of Twisted Wonderland and Wandance will be added to its anime library.

Chainsaw Man News

Chainsaw Man’s first season of the anime came to an end a few years ago and now, in 2025, the first feature-length film will be released! Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will hit Japanese theaters sometime this year, and based on the title, you can tell it focuses on the Reze arc. Denji, our goofy protagonist, is introduced to Reze, a quirky new girl, and a romance quickly develops and then quickly falls into chaos. If the first season (or manga) are any indication or what this movie will be like, then I think we can expect a good amount of battles, bloodshed, and more as Denji learns more about the worlds he’s a part of.

After being exclusive to Japan for the last few years, One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen are finally coming to Universal Studios Hollywood as part of the upcoming Universal FanFest Nights event later this Spring. If you have been following the anime world at all in the last few years, it’s likely you have noticed just how much more popular anime and manga releases have been around the world. This increase of popularity has also helped out anime distribution in the United States as franchises are licensed and translated at a much faster rate than they ever have been before. Now it’s going to the next level.

Universal Studios Japan often hosts special events for anime franchises like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen due to their respective successes, but they have largely been exclusive to that region. That’s going to change as Universal FanFest Nights will be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood from April 25th to May 18th later this Spring. The theme park will be hosting a ton of different franchise focused events, and two of them include events for One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen fans as well. Check out the promo poster for One Piece: Grand Pirate Gathering coming to Universal FanFest Nights below.

One Piece Is Coming to Universal Studios Hollywood

One Piece: Grand Pirate Gathering will be taking place on select dates during Universal FanFest Nights and teases that fans will be able to show off their cosplay while meeting with members of the Straw Hat Crew. There fans will also be able to enjoy special One Piece themed food, and see exclusive merchandise for those attending the event. Fans can even get the chance to get sketched on their own Wanted posters just like seen in the original series, so fans even remotely interested should check it out.

As for Jujutsu Kaisen, it will also be hosting the special Jujutsu Kaisen: Hunger of the Cursed event during Universal FanFest Nights as well. This is a special show screening at the DreamWorks Theatre that’s teased to follow Yuji Itadori as “he embarks on a journey from becoming the host of a powerful curse to learning how to fight it and other curses alongside fellow students at Tokyo Jujutsu High School.” Along with the special screening, fans can seek out specialty foods and merchandise featuring their favorite characters from the series as well.

This Is Huge For Anime Around the World

This might seem like an “of course” kind of move for Universal Studios Hollywood given how big One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen arc, but this really is a much bigger moment for fans than you might think. Universal Studios Japan has gone to great lengths to highlight anime franchises through events such as this, and that includes special screenings and rides like we’re getting here with Jujutsu Kaisen: Hunger of the Cursed. The fact that these events are coming to the United States further proves how big anime is now.

Anime and manga have become such successes in North America that they are getting their own special spotlight at a theme park. This is a huge deal for fans who have been hoping to experience the kind of events that were previously exclusive to Japan, so those interested in attending should seek out tickets to the events while they last as they will likely sell out quickly. Especially since this is the first real event of its kind for Universal Studios Hollywood.

Elizabethan makima from chainsaw man

To many anime fans, the writing in shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man is on the same level as Shakespeare. While that might be a slight over-exaggeration, one fan has interpreted it literally. On their Instagram page, anime fan and voice actor Faaiz Mbelizi (@faaizvo on Instagram) has blended the style of the bard with some of the most popular anime around, including the aforementioned JJK and Chainsaw Man, as well as Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Bleach, and many, many more.

Fan edits are a big part of the online anime community, with fans often splicing clips from their favorite shows or of their favorite characters for others to appreciate and gawk over. But, Faaiz has taken things a step further, re-recording the lines and completely overhauling the dialogue to a hilarious and the occasional surprisingly moving effect.

chainsaw-man-makima.png

The Chainsaw Man x Shakespeare Crossover Is Hilarious

You might find Shakespeare boring, especially after being forced to read his most dramatic works at school. But, alongside Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet, the bard also wrote some bonkers comedies. Faaiz Mbelizi channeled those comedies when he created his Chainsaw Man x Shakerspeare crossover. Faaiz has done three Chainsaw Man re-dubs to date, but his first might still be the best.

Faaiz Mbelizi re-wrote and re-recorded the Leech Devil fight from Episode 4, and added a whole new layer of beauty to Denji’s incredibly horny motivation to survive. “Prove thy mettle in the area of dreams,” Denji’s speech begins in the new edit. “If I vanquish thee, the matter is settled. Fondling bosoms shall reign supreme.”

More recently, Faaiz Mbelizi also re-dubbed Denji and Aki’s ball-kicking fight from Episode 2, and the pair confessing their fight to Makima later in the episode. “A fiend most foul did wreak havoc upon his loins, my lady,” Denji proclaims. How much would it cost to have the entire season re-written like this?

Jujutsu Kaisen x Shakespeare is Pure Poetry

If the Chainsaw Man re-write was a comedy like Twelfth Night, then the Jujutsu Kaisen is the pure poetry of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. One of his most recent JJK edits takes the epic fight between Mahito and Yuji from the “Shibuya Incident” arc in Season 2, and adds an extra layer of floweriness to Yuji’s monologue.

“I embrace this truth, Mahito,” Yuji’s speech begins. “I am thou. How fiercely did I yearn to spurn thee? To don the guise of ignorance and scorn thy words? But now that path lies closed.” Once again, we would like to petition Studio MAPPA to re-do the English dub with the Shakespearean script.

Both Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man received major updates at Jump Festa 2025 regarding their next arcs. The first trailer for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc was unveiled at the anime convention. Additionally, MAPPA also debuted the first look at Jujutsu Kaisen‘s third season.

Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo Satoru Juju Stroll

Gege Akutami’s popular Jujutsu Kaisen manga reached its conclusion in September 2024. The story is set in a world where negative emotions give birth to curses that threaten humanity. Satoru Gojo may not be the main character, but he’s definitely one of the most popular characters in recent times. Fans are bewitched by his appearance, charisma, care for his students, and his confident demeanor above all. As the strongest sorcerer of the modern era, he looks down on his enemies and easily stomps over them. Despite that, he gets trapped in the Prison Realm thanks to Kenjaku’s meticulous planning. Gojo returns in the manga after about three years and delivers the best fight in the series, the battle of the strongest.

He meets his controversial end in Chapter 236, enticing outrage from fans worldwide. However, while Gojo fans may have lost their beloved character, they will definitely love Desscaras from Shonen Jump’s Ichi the Witch. Although it only has 18 chapters, the series already has a wide fanbase thanks to its unique world-building, characters, and action sequences. While the main character is already beloved, Desscaras, the Abyssal Witch stole the limelight with her impeccable beauty and overwhelming strength.

https://twitter.com/Go_Jover/status/1882270471624007967

Ichi the Witch’s Desscaras Is the New Shonen Sensation Just Like Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo

Although Desscaras has been a fan-favorite since Ichi the Witch began serializing, she gained more attention after Chapter 18, titled, “Desscaras the Abyssal Witch.” She demonstrates her formidable power, living up to her reputation as the strongest witch alive. Despite facing off against a powerful Majik, she easily overwhelms her opponent while also showcasing her advanced techniques.

Her calm and confident demeanor underscores her dominance, as she mocks Majik while attacking him. This somehow aligns with Gojo’s personality, and fans have also caught on to that. Additionally, throughout the battle, we see glimpses of Desscaras’s mysterious past and connection to the abyss. As the chapter ends, Desscaras delivers a cryptic warning about a greater threat looming over the world before disappearing. This leaves the protagonists and readers stunned and even intrigued by the challenges that lie ahead.

ichi-the-witch-header
Shueisha

Desscaras’ title, strength, confidence, and way of looking down on her opponents draw parallels to Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Both characters exhibit a certain charm and charisma that easily draws fans towards them. Her unique light yellow eyes are captivating, just like Gojo’s sky-blue eyes. It’s also refreshing to see a female character exerting this much dominance in a Shonen series, enough to overshadow every major character. Fans have already started calling her new gen Gojo, and rightfully so. Although story-wise, Ichi the Witch shares little to no similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen, fans will still love reading a new genre with excellent characters.

While the first volume was released on January 4th, 2025, it’s only available in Japanese. The release date of the English version has yet to be announced, but it may take a few months. In the meantime, you can read all the chapters of Ichi the Witch on Manga Plus and Viz, the official go-to sources of all the Shonen Jump series.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sukuna

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s anime adaptation was an instant fan favorite when it first released in 2020, as audiences fell in love with Yuji Itadori, Satoru Gojo, and the rest of the students at Jujutsu High. As well as bringing Gege Akutami’s beloved manga to life with stunning fight scenes and balancing the comedic tone with its incredibly dark moments, the anime also introduced fans to the “Juju Stroll” segment.

At the end of most episodes from Season 1, fans were treated to a post-credit scene, following one or more characters on a small adventure. They were silly and light-hearted, adding depth to some of the more underappreciated supporting characters. Here are the 10 best “Juju Stroll” post-credit scenes from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1.

10. Yuji’s Hotpot Recipe (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 13)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll hot pot
MAPPA

When they’re not battling curses, the students of Jujutsu High are obsessed with food. In the Episode 13 Juju Stroll, Megumi, Maki, Toge, Nobara, and Panda sit around a small table enjoying a bubbling hot pot. The scene seems nonchalant and light-hearted as Megumi talks his classmates through the recipe (allowing the audience to follow along). But, when asked where he learned to cook the hotpot, he answers “Yuji,” who was believed to be dead at that point.

The slice-of-life nature of the scene adds further depth to the characters’ grief, as they do not yet know Yuji Itadori is alive and well under the tutelage of Satoru. The camera then cuts to Yuji and Satoru enjoying the same meal as Yuji says, “I can’t wait to see those two again.”

9. “What’s Your Type?” (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 15)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll type
MAPPA

While many characters pride themselves on being able to read and understand their opponents, Aoi Todo’s methods are less precise. “What kind of person is your type?” is his go-to question when facing a new foe. The answer can be the difference between life and death.

This is parodied in Episode 15’s Juju Stroll, as the camera cuts between each character, asking them that very question. The answers perfectly fit the characters, with Maki saying, “Someone who’s stronger than me,” and Momo name-dropping MCU star Sebastian Stan. Even Satoru gets in on the fun, revealing he has a crush on Kasumi.

8. Juzo Kamiya’s Brutal DIY (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll coat rack
MAPPA

Jujutsu Kaisen is an incredibly dark show, blending horror and action with the occasional hit of comedy. The Juju Strolls then supply comic relief, almost as a palette cleanser, before the next episode. But, sometimes the Juju Strolls blend horror and comedy.

Episode 19’s Juju Stroll gives curse user, Juzo Kumiya, his own D.I.Y show, reflecting his sadistic nature. Juzo wants Satoru’s spine to turn into a piece of furniture. In the clip, he teaches the viewer how to make a coat rack out of a human spine (lovely).

7. Cursed Beach Soccer (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 7)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll soccer
MAPPA

The special-grade curses have one goal in Jujutsu Kaisen: to eliminate all humans and create a paradise for curses. But even they deserve some R’n’R time every now and again.

Episode 7’s Juju Stroll sees Mahito, Hanami, and Saguru Geto/Kenjaku play a game of beach soccer using the recently defeated Jogo’s head. As gruesome as that sounds, the Juju Scroll is incredibly colorful and feels more in line with a teenage romance series than a bloody battle shonen anime.

6. Gojo’s Bullet Train Sushi (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 3)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll sushi
MAPPA

We said before that food plays a big part in Jujutsu Kaisen, and, in fact, its how the three first-year students, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara bond with each other and Satoru. Food kicks off the first Juju Stroll in Season 1.

After Yuji and Nobara pass Gojo’s test in the episode, he treats them all to sushi. Yuji and Nobara play rock, paper, scissors to decide where to eat, and, after Nobara wins, Gojo picks which sushi place he should take them to. After naming the restaurant, Yuji gives an incredibly dramatic account of their sushi conveyor belt, fit with thought bubbles, dramatic reactions from Nobara, and thunder and lightning.

5. Mechamaru’s Chores (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 16)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll Mechamaru
MAPPA

Poor, poor Mechamaru. Mechamaru might be the most tragic of the students at Jujutsu High, and his Juju Stroll only strengthens that idea. The clip comes after the audience learns the truth about Mechamaru and how he wants to make friends.

In Episode 16’s Juju Stroll, the female students from the Kyoto branch of Jujutsu High pawn their chores off on Mechamaru. When he finally stands up to them, they brush off his concerns with a gleeful thumbs up, saying, “We’re counting on you.” The clip then cuts to Kokichi Muta in his robotic bath, saying he’s at least glad they trust him as a friend.

4. Takada-Chan’s Handshake (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 8)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll Takada-Chan
MAPPA

Forget Yuji, forget Sukuna, forget Satoru, even forget Kento Nanami, because the best character in Jujutsu Kaisen is Takada-Chan. If judging people by their sexual preferences wasn’t insane enough, Aoi Todo is also obsessed with a TV celebrity named Takada-Chan.

In Episode 8’s Juju Stroll, he takes Mai with him to Takada-Chan’s handshake event. Todo forces Mai to meet her, with the rest of the male crowd gawking in awe at them both. The scene is incredibly stupid and equally hilarious and cements that Todo is the most accidentally comedic character in the show.

3. Nobara’s Missing Uniform (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 10)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll uniform
MAPPA

That heading might sound like a dodgy Ecchi episode, but we promise it’s not. When a modestly covered Nobara confronts her classmates about her missing uniform in the Episode 10 Juju Stroll, some of her friends have a bit of fun trying it on.

Panda is the first to have a go, wearing Nobara’s jacket, with it barely stretching around his shoulders. He receives a swift hammer to the head for his trouble. Nobara then notices her skirt is missing, before Satoru bursts into the room wearing it, pretending to be her with a terrible impersonation.

2. Gojo’s Urgent Message (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 9)

Jujutsu Kaisen Juju Stroll message
MAPPA

Even when he’s fighting Toji in Season 2 and on the brink of death, Satoru Gojo is always chill. In the Episode 9 Juju Stroll, his need for attention, love of irritating his colleagues and classmates, and overall chill demeanor get the better of him.

Satoru spends the entire clip chasing Nanami, saying he has an urgent message. This includes confronting him at the school, holding a banner in the air as he drives past, and giving him a note while he’s waiting at a vending machine. When Nanami gives in and opens the note expecting an urgent message, it reads “Penis,” with a juvenile scribble.

1. Megumi’s Flirting Skills (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 23)

MAPPA

You knew this was going to be on here. Jujutsu Kaisen saved the best for last, as the Episode 23 Juju Stroll is a long-standing fan favorite. Yuji and Nobara rush to Satoru, telling him that Megumi is being hit on. They race into action, going into “Formation B.”

While Yuji and Nobara try to embarrass Megumi, Satoru dials the charm up to 11. Swapping his blindfold for a suave pair of sunglasses, Gojo attempts to flirt with the woman. Megumi then reveals it was all in vain, as she was only asking him for directions.

Jujutsu Kaisen best fights with Gojo Yuta and Choso

As one of the most popular battle shonen series, Jujutsu Kaisen has several exciting and thrilling fight scenes. Written by Gege Akutami, this dark fantasy series follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student with exceptional physical strength who spends his days in the Occult Research Club. His life takes a drastic turn when the club discovers a powerful special-grade cursed object—a decayed finger belonging to Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. The object is capable of attracting terrifying creatures called cursed spirits that only a select few can see.

However, Yuji swallows it in order to protect Megumi Fushiguro and becomes Sukuna’s vessel. Later, he enrolls in Jujutsu Tech High School and moves to Tokyo, where he learns about his new powers. The story brings several challenges for the young sorcerer and his friends. The manga concludes its epic story in September 2024, while the anime is awaiting a third season. Jujutsu Kaisen has its fair share of thrilling battles but which among them are the best?

10. Kinji Hakari vs. Hajime Kashimo

Jujutsu Kaisen Hajime Kashimo
Shonen Jump

The Culling Game Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen will be adapted in the third season of the anime where Kinjki Hakari will make his debut. He is briefly introduced in the first season as one of the students Gojo considers to have the potential to surpass him. Hakari joins the rest of the students after Kenjaku begins the battle royale. Following Panda’s defeat at Kashimo’s hand, Hakari challenges the incarnated sorcerer. The two exchange blows for seven chapters where Hakari introduces his Domain Expansion.

His Idle Death Gamble grants him near-immortality for 4 minutes and 11 seconds after hitting a jackpot. The battle intensifies as he continues without fear of dying during the effect. Meanwhile, Kashimo possesses a unique cursed energy with an electric property, making every attack lethal. The duo’s face-off ends with Hakari’s victory. However, he refuses to kill Kashimo because they were equally matched and Hakari hardly considers it a victory.

9. Satoru Gojo vs. Jogo

Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo Jogo
MAPPA

This was Gojo’s first true display of strength. As someone who claims to be the strongest, Gojo surely proved himself against an enemy that no one in the Jujutsu society could’ve trampled over this easily. Gojo not only crushes Jogo’s pride but also shows Yuji the kind of challenges he will be up against in the future. Jogo, whose strength is equal to eight or nine of Sukuna’s fingers, is confident he can easily kill the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. He shows up in front of Gojo without a plan and pays a price for it.

Jogo’s fire abilities and Domain Expansion are some of the strongest techniques we have seen in the story so far. However, his fire abilities were countered by Gojo’s Technique Reversal: Red and the latter easily overpowered Jogo with his own Domain Expansion. Gojo could’ve easily killed Jogo after the interrogation failed, but Hanami interfered and escaped with the volcano curse.

8. Yuji Itadori vs. Choso

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Choso
MAPPA

The first meeting between the brothers ends in a disaster. Choso only wanted to avenge Eso and Kechizu by killing Yuji. He joins Kenjaku’s side and contributes to the deaths of many civilians. Choso was waiting to run into Yuji, and he didn’t waste a second before attacking the young sorcerer. The fight was adapted in Season 2 and showcased an extended version praised for its intense choreography.

The visually stunning fight highlights Yuji’s adaptability and resilience against Choso’s powerful Blood Manipulation technique. Even so, Choso easily defeats Yuji and almost kills him. However, his mind suddenly played a memory he never experienced before. Choso starts believing Yuji is actually his brother and swears to protect him during the rest of the arc.

7. Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo vs. Mahito

Jujutsu Kaisen Todo Yuji
MAPPA

Mahito has been Yuji’s sworn enemy since the Vs. Mahito Arc. The curse continues to take countless lives till the Shibuya Incident Arc and shows no remorse for it. After killing Junpei, Mahito tries every way to break Yuji both emotionally and physically. He kills Nanami in front of the young sorcerer and even lands a fatal blow on Nobara. Yuji believed Nobara didn’t survive the attack and wallowed in despair. Just when he is about to give up, Aoi Todo arrives at the scene and saves the day. The duo’s team-up has always been a fan-favorite since their fight against Hanami in the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc.

In Shibuya, Todo’s Boogie Woogie comes in handy even against a powerful foe like Mahito. Meanwhile, Yuji, who had the power of 15 Sukuna’s fingers, finally got his spirit back and put the villain in his rightful place. From Mahito running away from Yuji to the MC’s iconic quote, “I’m you,” the fight highlights some of the best moments in the story. It also showcases Yuji’s growth as a sorcerer. However, just when Yuji is about to kill Mahito, Kenjaku arrives at the scene and absorbs the curse. Meanwhile, Todo is left injured after losing his left hand and being unable to use his cursed technique anymore.

6. Yuta Okkotsu vs. Ryu Ishigori vs. Takaka Uro

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuta Okkotsu
Toho Animation

After a year of training with Miguel in Africa, Yuta returns to Japan only to discover the Shibuya Incident has left the Jujutsu world in shambles. He had to deal with the political struggles due to the Elders and the emotional burden of finding out about Gojo’s capture. If that wasn’t enough, Yuta also participated in the battle royale Kenjaku started to carry out his plans. Kenjaku revived several ancient sorcerers and awakened new sorcerers for the Culling Game.

Ryu and Uro are among the incarnated powerful sorcerers who will be introduced in the third season. Both have exceptional skills and are even able to use Domain Expansion. Going against the two of them together is by no means an easy feat. In Chapter 178, the three activate Domain Expansions together only to get interrupted by Kururousuhi. While Ryu defeats Uro and Kururousuhi, Yuta defeats the former, winning the three-way battle.

5. Satoru Gojo vs. Toji Fushiguro

Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo Hollow Purple
MAPPA

The battle between Gojo and Toji takes place in two different situations. After being offered generous compensation for killing Riko Amanai, Toji forms a strategy to defeat Gojo. He tires the strongest sorcerer out by sending threats on his way. Gojo, being sleep-deprived, doesn’t sense Toji sneaking an attack on him from behind. Although Gojo survives Toji piercing his chest, the rest of the battle proves much too difficult for him. He ultimately loses and suffers a fatal injury, making Toji believe Gojo is dead.

Under normal circumstances, Toji wouldn’t have won but his days of planning paid off. However, after Riko’s death and Geto’s defeat, Toji encounters Gojo again. This time, Gojo is in a delirious state because he is overwhelmed by a mix of physical strain, emotional pressure, and his awakened powers. This time, Gojo easily obliterates Toji with his Hollow Technique: Purple. The fight is a major turning point in Gojo’s life as he realizes his own weakness and trains relentlessly to become better.

4. Sukuna vs. Mahoraga

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Sukuna
MAPPA

The Shibuya Incident Arc is by far the most intense arc in the anime and it’s full of thrilling battles. However, none matches the intensity of the fight where we witness Sukuna’s destructive powers. After Sukuna takes over Yuji’s body, he kills Jogo and notices Megumi has summoned Mahoraga. Megumi is crucial to his Sukuna’s plans and he can’t have the young sorcerer die. Therefore, Sukuna arrives at the scene and defeats Mahoraga, destroying a major part of Shibuya and killing thousands in the process. Mahoraga, a Shikigami, is the ultimate trump card of the Zenin Clan that no one in history has been able to tame.

Despite Megumi’s talents, even he couldn’t control the giant Shikigami. Sukuna, even with the power of 15 fingers, fought Mahoraga intensely and studied his strength. Mahoraga’s unique ability allows him to adapt to any technique and render it useless. While it may be challenging for other sorcerers, the King of Curses easily destroys Mahoraga with his Fire Arrow. The attack results in massive tragedy as he obliterates thousands of people in the process.

3. Yuta Okkotsu vs. Suguru Geto

jujutsu-kaisen-yuta-rika-anime.jpg
MAPPA

This prequel arc was covered in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film, which was released after the first season. It follows Yuta Okkotsu, who lost his childhood sweetheart, Rika Orimoto, in a car accident. Unaware of his powers, Yuta accidentally cursed Rika and turned her into a special-grade apparition. The story highlights his inner struggles as he joins Jujutsu Tech High School and learns to control his powers. In the first year of high school, Suguru Geto begins a Night Parade of a Hundred Demons as a distraction to get his hands on Rika.

Suguru plans to kill Yuta and consume Rika’s powers for himself. What follows after is a battle against two special-grade sorcerers. Yuta, despite having tremendous powers, struggles against a seasoned veteran. He finally wins the fight but doesn’t realize Geto got away after receiving serious injuries. Gojo found his former friend at an alley and put an end to his misery, leaving Yuta to regret his own incapability.

2. Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori vs. Ryomen Sukuna

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-characters-yuji-yuta-sukuna.jpg
Shueisha

The final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen includes a series of fights against the King of Curses. Sorcerers combine their strengths to defeat the greatest threat to mankind. Yuta and Yuji had significant roles to play in the battle. While the fight doesn’t last for long, it provides a major turning point in the story. After Gojo’s death, Yuta is clearly the strongest sorcerer they have on their side. He arrives at the scene after cutting off Kenjaku’s head and lends Yuji the support he needs. Both display exceptional growth while fighting the villain.

Awed by their strength, Sukuna asks the secret behind their growth. Yuta only says they cheated, which is a major foreshadowing of the sorcerer’s real plan. Yuta uses his Domain Expansion, Authentic Mutual Love for the first time. Although the Culling Game Arc confirmed he had this ability, the manga only introduces it in the final stretch. However, it was all to pave a path for Maki’s sneak attack. Sukuna overwhelmed both Yuji and Yuta, proving the battle was far from over.

1. Satoru Gojo vs. Ryomen Sukuna

Shueisha

The battle of the strongest is one of the most popular showdowns in recent times that had the anime and manga community in a chokehold for a few months. Sukuna challenges Gojo to a duel as soon as the latter is out of the Prison Realm. The fight runs for 15 chapters where Gojo and Sukuna, who has occupied Megumi’s body exchange blows. The fight is full of strategic moves and excellent fight sequences, keeping fans on edge. With the title of the strongest and the future of humanity at stake, Gojo gives it all but still loses to the villain.

Even so, he showcases a better performance than any other sorcerer alive. After Gojo’s death, Sukuna acknowledges his opponent’s strength and gives him due respect. The story takes a turn for the worse when Sukuna assumes his Heian Era form and heals his injuries in the process. This commences the true, nightmarish battle against the King of Curses.

Jujutsu Kaisen might have come to an end last year, but the creator behind it all is still showing Satoru Gojo, Yuji Itadori, and Sukuna love with some special sketches. Jujutsu Kaisen surprisingly ended its run with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine last year as fans had seen how the Shinjuku Showdown against Sukuna came to an end. Then with the release of the final two volumes of the series later in December, Jujutsu Kaisen returned with a special new epilogue set after the finale’s events. But even with all of this being wrapped up and all coming to an end, the creator behind it all is still looking back on it fondly.

Jujutsu Kaisen series creator Gege Akutami has shared some special new sketches for Gojo, Yuji, and Sukuna (as spotted by @Go_Jover on X), and they give fans one last look at each of these characters after the series has come to an end. While Jujutsu Kaisen might have a bright anime future ahead of it, new sketches from the creator will be the only fresh way that we’ll be able to see these characters in manga form heading into the future.

Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Brings Back Gojo & Sukuna

While it hasn’t been that long since Jujutsu Kaisen fans got to see Yuji and Sukuna since the manga series came to an end, it’s been much longer since fans got to see Gojo in action. Gojo might have been a prominent figure early on in the series as a mentor to help guide Yuji into the wild world of Jujutsu Sorcery, it’s a much different case later as Gojo takes a step back for a majority of the final few arcs as Yuji and the other surviving fighters need to step up in order to compensate for Gojo’s absence.

Then when Gojo finally makes his return to the series, it’s not for a long time. Fans get to see how Gojo’s power stacks up against Sukuna, and it’s the first real example of what the both of them can do when going up against an opponent who can match each others’ strength and abilities. But it’s also the last example fans get to see either as it’s not long after that the series was revealed to be in the midst of its final arc and speeding towards the grand finale for everything overall.

Shueisha

What’s Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?

Jujutsu Kaisen might have come to an end last year, but it’s far from the end for the anime. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was announced to be in the works shortly after the second season came to an end, but it has yet to be revealed when fans can expect to see the new episodes in action. There are all sorts of mysteries surrounding the production for this new season as well as it’s currently unclear as to whether or not Studio MAPPA will be returning for this new season (along with the members of the staff seen in the second season).

What has been revealed, however, is the fact that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will begin with its adaptation of the Culling Game arc from Gege Akutami’s original manga series. This picks up immediately after the events of the Shibuya Incident as Yuji now needs to enter a deadly tournament filled with not only brand new Cursed Spirits, but also a bunch of sorcerers from the Heian era that have been revived in new bodies. It’s stacked to the brim with action, so fans are going to want to see what happens next.

Jujutsu Kaisen came to an end last year, and a special epilogue chapter released after the grand finale revealed who took over Satoru Gojo’s clan years later after his death. Jujutsu Kaisen really shook up with each new arc of the series. Beginning with the Shibuya Incident arc, series creator Gege Akutami made it clear to fans that no character was ever going to be truly safe. It’s something each of the Jujutsu Sorcerers knew themselves as they all knew that they were basically marked for death with each fight against the Cursed Spirits. But even with all of that knowledge, some of those deaths were still a surprise.

The biggest of these was undoubtedly Satoru Gojo. The massively popular character lost his life in the final fight against Sukuna during the Shinjuku Showdown, and kicked off a much larger fight that eventually led to the series’ grand finale overall. It was a death that fans refused to accept for months after it happened, and hoped it would be overturned in a future chapter. But, it never happened. As life goes on in Jujutsu Kaisen’s epilogue chapter released with the final volume of the manga in Japan, it’s revealed that Yuta Okkotsu took Satoru’s place as the acting head of the clan.

Shueisha

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue Introduces a New Timeskip

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final volume includes a brand new epilogue chapter following the events of the main series, and with it focuses on a few select characters at different times. There’s a flashback to Sukuna’s past, a revisiting of Yuji Itadori seemingly immediately after all of the fights went down, and a look years into the future. It’s this time skip that reveals what happened to the Gojo Clan following his death. Yuta’s grandchildren are seen going through storage, and even happen across Panda, who’s basically lost most of his functionality following the fight against Hajime Kashimo.

Through this scene, it’s explained that Yuta has become the new acting head of the Gojo clan following his death. While it’s not revealed who he ends up having children with after the end of the series, it’s explained that all those years later that Yuta has truly fulfilled Gojo’s wishes and took over protecting the clan for the future. Gojo had always relied on Yuta as someone who could swoop in whenever he wasn’t around because of his overwhelming strength, and Yuta made good on that promise years later.

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuta Okkotsu
Toho Animation

Yuta Really Gets The Best Ending in Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuta really does end up with the best fate even years after Jujutsu Kaisen came to an end. Although he had taken the biggest gamble in the fight against Sukuna with swapping his brain to use Gojo’s body and techniques, he was able to fully recover and return to his own body seemingly without major issues. Not only does he live on to takeover for Gojo, marking him as the Gojo successor that Satoru pegged him as way back in the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, but he has a happy ending.

Jujutsu Sorcerers rarely get happy lives after their time fighting is done, but Yuta goes on to have kids (with Maki Zenin potentially being the mother of those children) and those kids get to have kids of their own. It’s years of peace after the events of those series, and it showcases that everything Gojo and the others had done during the series actually made a difference. So while they might not won their particular battles, it’s clear that the characters won the war in the longterm.

Jujutsu Kaisen officially returned for a special new chapter taking place after the end of the original series, and a far off into the future time skip revealed that one of the Jujutsu Sorcerers has a terrible and lonely fate. Jujutsu Kaisen officially wrapped up its run with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Fall 2024, but series creator Gege Akutami added something special to the final volume of the series. With the final volume of the manga hitting shelves in Japan last December, fans got to see a brand new chapter revealing more of what happened to the characters after the original ending.

While Jujutsu Kaisen‘s original ending left quite a lot on the table in terms of questions fleshing out the rest of the world, there were also questions about what the characters themselves would be up to in the future. With this new epilogue, it’s revealed that two of the characters ended up getting together and having a family. But while they are happy, Panda has one of the worst fates imaginable as he’s doomed to continue to exist for years to come without the ability to really move or speak.

Shueisha

What Happened to Panda in Jujutsu Kaisen?

When we had last seen Panda in Jujutsu Kaisen, he quickly lost the fight against Hajime Kashimo. He had lost two of the cores within his body, and was thus transformed into a much smaller size. That was the last real time we had seen Panda in action with the series, but the special epilogue revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s final volume revealed that he had since been put into the Gojo Clan’s storage. Years after the events of the series, Yuta Okkotsu had taken over as the new acting head of the Gojo Clan following Satoru Gojo’s death in the fight against Sukuna.

Panda had been kept in storage, and Yuta’s grandchildren happen upon him. It’s clear that while he can no longer move on his own, he’s able to speak a bit when one of the kids insults him. This darkly implies that he’s still very much aware of what’s going on around him, but is stuck in this terrible stasis because Masamichi Yaga is no longer there to perhaps help fix anything that might have been broken in that fight with Kashimo. So Panda’s just going to stay in storage, all alone for many years to come.

TOHO Animation

Is This Jujutsu Kaisen’s Worst Ending?

There have been arguably harsher fates for some characters in Jujutsu Kaisen as many of them have lost their lives in these fights, but it’s hard to imagine a future worse than for Panda. As an Abrupt-Mutation Cursed Corpse, Panda was already a unique figure within the series. It was made very clear that he had an intelligence and will of his own, and though he was created by Yaga, it never once felt like he was just a weapon. He was an important member of the wider Yuta and Yuji teams.

So to see that his future for decades to come is just to gather dust in storage while he still has the capacity to occasionally think and speak, it’s certainly a bleak and harsh fate for a character that doesn’t really deserve it. It’s just another harsh fate within this world that’s been very dark and bleak from the beginning. But for a character like Panda, it really feels like it’s rubbing salt in the wound since he’s essentially forgotten about after the rest of his friends begin to pass away.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime adaptation is praised for its incredible animation, thanks to the number of talents working on the project. Jujutsu Kaisen Seaosn 2 Chief Animation Director Souta Yamazaki has made significant contributions to the series, especially in the second season. He served as the Chief Animation Director for seven episodes in Season 2, specifically episodes 5, 12, 16, and 20 through 23. Apart from his direct involvement in the anime series, Yamazaki has also engaged with the Jujutsu Kaisen community through his stunning artwork. He created an illustration featuring Sukuna and Yuji to celebrate the New Year.

The animator shares a caption, “Happy New Year Picture” along with the illustration. Sukuna is in his Heian Era form, which means the illustration depicts the fight in the final JJK arc, the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. Anime-only fans may not be aware, but it includes some of the most intense fight sequences in the story. Yuji going toe-to-toe with the King of Curses is still one of the most hyped JJK moments. The manga ended its serialization in September 2024. However, the Japanese versions of the final volumes 29 and 30 were released on December 25th, 2024. While the main story is over, fans still have the exciting anime to look forward to.

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired in 2023, adapting Gojo’s Past and the Shibuya Incident Arcs. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has yet to reveal a release date or a teaser promo. The series revealed a gorgeous key visual during Jump Festa 2025. However, if it follows the manga’s storyline, it will adapt Itadori’s Extermination, Perfect Preparation, and the Culling Game Arc before the events depicted in Yamazaki’s illustration. The season will feature the aftermath of the brutal Shibuya Incident. We will also learn Yuta Okkotsu’s plans since he’s ready to kill Yuji because of the elders’ orders. Yuta also expresses his anger towards Yuji, who’s responsible for Toge Inumaki’s injury.

Gojo has been declared a traitor, and anyone seeking to free him will be an enemy of the Jujustu world. However, that won’t stop Gojo’s students from trying to help their sensei. The Culling Game is a battle royale orchestrated by Kenjaku, the ancient curse user who has occupied Geto’s corpse. JJK will introduce an exciting slate of new characters in the upcoming season. Furthermore, we will also find out what Sukuna plans to do with Megumi Fushiguro. Culling Game is the second final arc of the series, and the story will move on to the Shinjuku Showdown Arc after it.

After a glorious six-year-long run in Shonen Jump and 271 chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen concluded its story back in September, with its final volume being released in Japan on December 25th, 2024. Besides concluding the epic saga, the final volume also surprised fans with a new, never-before-seen epilogue, which finally gives Yuji the happy ending he deserves.

Much like the majority of shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen has largely avoided romance in favor of its fast-paced, action-driven story, often sidelining excellent potential love interests like Yuko Ozawa in the process. That said, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s new epilogue finally brings Ozawa back in the cutest possible way, reuniting her with Yuji through a chance encounter that suggests the two may have ended up together after all.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Volume Dials Up the Romance Between Yuji and Ozawa

The epilogue in Volume 30 of Jujutsu Kaisen sees Ozawa run into Yuji by chance on a visit to Sendai, their hometown. The scene first begins with a flashback of Yuji and Ozawa from when they were still in high school wherein the two can be seen talking about the snow. Yuji reveals he loves the snow because it still feels special, unlike other things such as fireworks and the ocean, which gradually lose their charm as one grows up, with Ozawa timidly agreeing with Yuji.

Cut to the present, Ozawa, who is back in Sendai to clean out her grandmother’s house, runs into Yuji at the station. Yuji reveals he is also back to tie up loose ends related to his grandfather’s house. Ozawa then inquires whether Yuji is doing well in Tokyo despite having already asked Nobara about him. Yuji asks about Ozawa in return, only to reveal that he, too, already asked Nobara about Ozawa’s well-being and whereabouts.

Yuji and Ozawa leave the station to find it snowing outside, which prompts Ozawa to ask whether Yuji still likes the snow, which he reveals he does. Ozawa agrees with Yuji once again, just like in the flashback, revealing that she especially likes the snow when it piles up. As Yuji smiles radiantly talking about building a snowman, Ozawa ponders on how the glistening snow reminds her of the man she loves, looking fondly at Yuji as she does so.

Meanwhile, back in Tokyo Nobara’s spidey senses hilariously start tingling, telling her that Yuji is “standing on the threshold of adulthood” likely referring to him getting into his first real romantic relationship, even if not explicitly shown.

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Epilogue Teases Yuji and Ozawa Likely Ended Up Together

Though the chance meeting between Yuji and Ozawa by itself does not confirm that the two end up together, it does at least hint at some development in the romance department off-screen following that point, especially given that Ozawa acknowledges she loves Yuji. Granted, Yuji does not explicitly show any romantic interest in Ozawa, though the fact that he asked Nobara about Ozawa proves that he does care about her to some extent.

Judging by Nobara’s fourth-wall-breaking reaction at the end, for now, fans can assume that Yuji and Ozawa likely ended up together eventually. Though fans have shipped Yuji with many characters, including Nobara, Yuko Ozawa’s history with Yuji arguably makes her one of the best possible love interests for Yuji despite her scarce appearances, and Jujutsu Kaisen‘s epilogue has finally given fans some closure on their budding relationship. If anything, the epilogue confirms Yuji is the happiest he’s ever been, and that by itself is enough to count as a happy ending.

The four of them visit a shrine, and we see Gojo smiling at his students who are praying for the coming year. It’s a common tradition in Japan to visit the shrine and pray for good fortune and prosperity in the year ahead and to mark a fresh start. People usually visit with their friends and family, and Gojo taking them out on New Year’s depicts how much he cares about his students. While the illustration isn’t canon, fans love it all the same.

Jujutsu Kaisen had its most successful year in 2024 with the manga ending and the second season of the anime adaptation. Not only did Season 2 cross several records and win the Crunchyroll Awards in several categories, but the manga was announced to have over 100 million copies in circulation. Volumes 29 and 30 of the manga were released on Christmas, and they include several illustrations. The final volume even includes a 16-page epilogue centering around Nobara, Yuko, Panda, and Uraume. While JJK doesn’t have anything planned for 2025 so far, fans are eagerly awaiting the third season of the anime. It will adapt the Itadori Extermination, Perfect Preparation, and the Culling Game Arcs.

What is the Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade Game?

Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade is the first officially licensed mobile game based on Gege Akutami’s popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen. It was developed by Sumzap as a free-to-play role-playing title that is available on both Android and iOS platforms. It was released in Japan on November 21st, 2023. The game took one year to be internationally available in multiple languages. On November 7th, 2024, it was finally made accessible to a wider audience. Phantom Parade closely follows the original storyline, including full-voiced scenes and battles, allowing the players to use Cursed Techniques.

Apart from the main story, the game also introduces original characters from the Fukuoka branch of Tokyo Jujutsu High, such as first-year students Saki and Kaito, and the principal Kensuke. This offers players new perspectives and challenges within the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. Phantom Parade often shares new illustrations in anime style for promotions or celebrating events. These artworks add to the festive vibe and encourage players to log in or participate in time-limited content. The official account of the game shared the illustration with an announcement that the players will be awarded 3000 Cubes to celebrate the New Year.

As a rising star in the anime industry, he has several credited and non-credited works under his belt. His work in Jujutsu Kaisen has been widely praised among fans. JJK is one of the most popular anime and manga series in recent times. The manga concluded in September 2024 and the Japanese version of Volumes 29 and 30 were released in December 2024. However, the anime is far from over as fans await a third season.

Season 2 included a lot of extra materials that provided an in-depth understanding of the fights during the Shibuya Incident Arc. It’s by far the most intense JJK arc in the anime series. The story gets darker from here on out. Although it’s currently unknown if Zhang is working on JJK Season 3, he has recently announced his first step in the manga world with an Indie series set to release in 2025. The announcement was made on his official X account on December 29th, 2024. Back in 2020, he shared a short manga on X, with only illustrations and no text. However, this time, he’s blending the animation and manga panels to create a unique experience for fans. The project will be independent as he will self-publish it.

Weilin Zhang Shares Information About His Upcoming Project in 2025

Weilin Zhang shares on X, “I’m making an indie manga, “I’ll of you!”, in 2025. The ending of the story will be a superpower action animation indie film. This is the main character, Clair. Stay tuned and look forward to the release sometime February-March.”

He further adds, “I will draw the manga “I’ll Be With You!” and self-publish it by the end of 2025. I plan to turn the climax of this story into an independent action anime. This girl is the main character, “Clair.” The series will begin in February or March 2025.”

Zhang also shares a gorgeous black and white animated gif that teases the art of his upcoming work. It’s possible that the girl in the gif is the protagonist of the manga, Clair. The plot and more information about the story haven’t been revealed yet, but the animator will likely share more information in February, just before the official release. The animation part will only serve as the conclusion to its story.

Jujutsu Kaisen Satoru Gojo

While the Jujutsu Kaisen manga’s ending was indeed controversial, fans won’t accept someone else creating an alternate version for them. On October 12, 2024, a new account on X, @jujutsunokaisen announced that they will be creating a new ending for Jujutsu Kaisen starting from Chapter 236. Countless fans have been unhappy over Gojo’s death, but the manga handled it quite splendidly. From Gojo’s meeting with the others at the airport to Sukuna finally acknowledging his opponent, Chapter 236 is praised as one of the best-written JJK chapters. Even so, not all fans will always be happy about any series, and Jujutsu Kaisen is no different.

Most of the dissatisfaction with the series comes from Satoru Gojo’s death. One reader even decided to give others an alternate ending while claiming they’re doing it for those who are unsatisfied. The project is known as Jujutsu no Kaisen and it already has a website and accounts on social media. The unofficial chapter was released on January 1st, 2025, and fans are unhappy with the project. Some even consider it as a disrespect to Gege Akutami’s hard work. Meanwhile many are even enraged with the use of AI and the artist tracing fanarts and official JJK and One Punch Man chapters.

https://twitter.com/jutsunokaisen/status/1874243606447571333

Jujutsu no Kaisen Faces Tracing and AI Art Allegations

The website has only released one chapter so far. Gojo meets others at the airport, this time they decide to include Yuki and Ichiji. However, Ichiji is alive in the manga. After that, the chapter more or less follows the original story route with several dialogue changes. However, the pacing is much faster than in the original manga. So far, the unofficial version hasn’t made any significant changes other than Sukuna’s mouth on his stomach appearing even though he hasn’t assumed his Heian Era form. Jujutsu no Kaisen will be releasing another part quite soon, but haven’t confirmed the release date.

Popular anime YouTuber @ChibiReviews shares on X, “So that Jujutsu Kaisen fan ending got caught tracing not just from the original manga, but from Fan Artists and One Punch Man… What a way to start 2025.”

Several other fans express their anger towards Jujutsu no Kaisen. @TerravonRiegan comments, “Thank you for confirming you’re only salty because Gojo dies, which makes perfect sense in terms of narrative and power scaling, by the way, but what are you going to know about writing anything.”

https://twitter.com/jutsunokaisen/status/1874578467221799302

While the outrage continues, X added a community note on Jujutsu no Kaisen’s post, “This is not official. The linked ‘ending’ is fan-made, and contains traced panels and possible AI-generated artwork. The contents of this work are not made by the original creator, Gege Akutami, nor approved by him or his co-creators.”

The situation has yet to die down as the creator of the alternate ending shares, “Your negative comments motivate me, as most works like this receive criticism in the first place. Wait for the entire chapter with edited dialogues. Always remember, never judge a book by its cover.”

Fan-made alternate endings aren’t new in the industry as Attack on Titan is already releasing one quite soon. However, the fan studio is using its own art and has put in quite a lot of effort and money. They’re also releasing it in the theatres. In contrast, JJK’s alternate ending faces all kinds of allegations. The manga ended in September 2024, and while some were unsatisfied in the beginning, many fans now understand Gege Akutami’s idea behind the conclusion.

Jujutsu Kaisen might have come to an end earlier this Fall, but a special new chapter released after the final made one fan-favorite romance an official part of the canon. Jujutsu Kaisen ended its run with Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine earlier this Fall, and with it fans saw Gege Akutami’s original manga series end while leaving some big questions on the table. But the chance to remedy this came up with the official release of the manga’s final volume in Japan this month, and Akutami returned with a brand new chapter set after the grand finale that explores the fates of a few of the characters.

With the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 30 in Japan, series creator Gege Akutami released a brand new chapter that revealed more about a few characters after the end of the series. One of these looks was a time skip that jumped several years into the future that revealed what happened to Panda after all of the fights were over, and it revealed quite a lot about Yuta Okkotsu’s future. With the debut of Okkotsu’s grand children, it’s also revealed that he actually ended up with Maki Zenin some time after Jujutsu Kaisen ended.

Jujutsu Kaisen Makes Yuta x Maki Official

As further highlighted by @okkotsuloml on X, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s new epilogue chapter reveals Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren years in the future. It’s not exactly made clear who the grandmother of these children are, but there are some concrete clues that Yuta and Maki ended up together. Not only do the grandchildren share close similarities with the two of them, but it’s also revealed that Yuta eventually became the new head of the Gojo clan following Satoru Gojo’s death. He’d likely need some more support from Maki in that case, and their pairing makes a lot of sense.

There wasn’t a lot of romance in Jujutsu Kaisen as Yuji Itadori and the rest of the characters were so involved in life or death stakes every arc that there wasn’t really any time to think about anything else. As Jujutsu Sorcerers their lives are incredibly short, and the dissolution of the clans was something that the end of the series seemed to queue up with Maki eliminating the rest of the Zenin Clan, and Mei Mei taking over the New Shadow Style at the end of the original series. Thus this fusion of the Gojo and Zenin clans makes for an evolution of that idea.

Shueisha

Yuta Ending Up With Maki Makes Sense

Although there wasn’t enough time for love or romance to develop in Jujutsu Kaisen, there were a few couples that fans had hoped to see end up together. Yuta and Maki was one of those pairings as the two have had a close bond since the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel. When they first met with one another, Maki was key in helping Yuta develop into the Special Grade Sorcerer we see in the main series later. And after Yuta returned to full time action in the series, the two went back to their now classic dynamic.

Though it’s not concretely confirmed that the two ended up together in the future, the two of them have such distinct characteristics that it’s hard to imagine someone other than a member of the Zenin clan led to a grandchild with the same kind of glare as Maki. And given that it’s just Maki and Megumi left, Yuta really could only end up with one of them to continue their respective bloodlines all those years after the original series came to an end.

With the conclusion of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen, Weekly Shonen Jump is entering a brand-new era of serialized works showcasing the talents of shonen manga artists from across the industry. With these iconic series coming to an end, so to does age-old traditions found within the magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen joined in with breaking one of these traditions – or perhaps curses, in this case – with the release of the official epilogue.

Traditionally, when a popular shonen series comes to an end, the creator will oftentimes release a collection of epilogue chapters to tie up any loose ends left behind in a series’ final arc. Hilariously, many of these epilogues will feature the main protagonist boasting an unflattering haircut. Yuji Itadori made his final appearance in the epilogue for Jujutsu Kaisen, sporting a haircut that was surprisingly fashionable and kept Yuji’s original vibes intact.

Other Shonen Jump series, like Bleach, Naruto, and My Hero Academia, have seen their protagonists take on horrific hairstyles to send them off. Other magazines have suffered a similar plague, with fans criticizing Eren’s hairstyle when he made his final appearance in Attack on Titan. While a small nitpick of the artistry and character designs, it’s a trope that’s joked about as opposed to being a legitimate critique of the finale.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending Has Been Met With Harsh Critique From Longtime Fans

While Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most profitable franchises in the anime and manga industry, many longtime fans of the series have spoken out regarding their disappointment toward the grand finale – especially with the epilogue. Without divulging too many spoilers regarding where each of the surviving characters ends up after defeating Sukuna, fans have spoken out about how the ending felt rushed and left too many plot threads open to fan interpretation.

Namely, for many, while it was a welcome surprise to see part of the epilogue from the perspective of Maki and Yuta’s grandchildren, it also didn’t show off how any of these characters looked after recovering from everything they’d been through. Readers get an opportunity to see Nobara reunite with her mother and, of course, see Yuji finally go on what seems to be a date with Yuko.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sukuna and Uraume
Gege Akutami/Shueisha

Despite the pushback for the writing at the end of the series, Gege Akutami spoke fondly of his experiences during Jump Festa 2025, thanking fans for their dedication and for following the series over the years. He went on to praise the ongoing anime adaptation, stating that the director for the anime, Goshozono, had done an incredible job bringing the work to life and that he’s excited for fans to see where the Culling Games arc will take the story in the anime.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in September 2024, after concluding the long battle against the King of Curses. The final volumes were released on December 25th, 2024, featuring several extra illustrations. Volume 30 has a 16-page epilogue focusing on Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume. Each character gets a four-page epilogue centered around them. While we follow Nobara, Yuko, and Panda after the main story ends, Uraume’s epilogue is a brief Heian flashback. We witness their first meeting with Sukuna. Uraume is a minor antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. Despite being one of the most powerful sorcerers, they never had much role in the story.

Uraume’s character is limited to being Sukuna’s loyal servant. While the manga never specifically showed their relationship, it’s clear that the two were very close. Sukuna, despite being an arrogant and prideful villain, cared for Uraume even after his death. Fans love their dynamic, and the epilogue was well-received by fans. However, the majority of the reason Uraume’s epilogue was praised is because it had Sukuna. While Sukuna is one of the most popular characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, Uraume never had enough presence to attract as many fans as the main villain. This also proves that fans would’ve loved to know more about Sukuna from the Heian Era.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sukuna Uraume
MAPPA

What Happens in Uraume’s Epilogue in Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 30?

We see a young Uraume lying in front of their parents’ corpses. When they were a child, Uraume had difficulty controlling their powers. They ended up freezing themself and everything around them, including their parents. This happened during the Heian Era when Sukuna was out on a stroll. He came across the gruesome scene and took Uraume with him. He realized that the child’s powers could be a great substitute for his broken icehouse (a refrigerator prototype). As the two spent more time together, Sukuna noticed Uraume’s cooking talents. Uraume was not only Sukuna’s subordinate but also his cook. It’s a well-known fact that Sukuna was a cannibal.

Hence, he asked if Uraume could cook humans, too. Sukuna said the taste depends on the person, but it’s a kind of delicacy for him. Even so, Uraume wasn’t grossed out by that fact. Instead, they asked why Sukuna wasn’t cold around them. The King of Curses asked the same question, wondering why Uraume wasn’t cold around him instead. Sukuna meant that metaphorically since everyone who saw him would freeze in fear. Hence, the strongest sorcerer in history lived in solitude before he found Uraume. The epilogue ended with Uraume holding Sukuna’s hand and walking away, just like in Chapter 271.

Shueisha

The Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Proves Fans Would’ve Loved Sukuna’s Heian Flashback

There are a lot of unanswered questions about the main villain of Jujutsu Kaisen. Sure, while a character’s backstory isn’t always necessary, it does satisfy the reader’s curiosity and makes them relate to the character more. Sukuna, the strongest sorcerer in history, was abandoned by his mother after birth. The story never specifically mentions the real reason, but it’s possible she abandoned him because of his appearance. Sukuna briefly mentioned that his mother was starving for too long, which is why he ate his twin inside the womb. It hints that his mother was poor, which is another possibility since she thought she couldn’t take care of him. Even his real name remains unknown, or maybe he never got any in the first place. Ryomen Sukuna is simply a title given to him because he’s the strongest.

He lived alone for years before coming across Uraume. Sukuna was an outcast in the Jujutsu world since everyone feared him. No one would dare needlessly approach him and keep their distance (except Yorozu, who died at Uraume’s hands). However, something happened in the Heian Era that made all the sorcerers gather their might to defeat one person. Sukuna died thanks to the combined efforts of the sorcerers. All this was only narrated, but we never got to experience his past. The epilogue, despite being a four-page-long story, was already interesting and even heartwarming.

Sukuna’s defeat during the Heian Era was so legendary that the tale was passed down in the Jujutsu world for over a thousand years. This just proves that a full backstory centering around Sukuna would’ve made the story much more interesting. In Chapter 271, Sukuna talked about the two choices he was given. While he said that, we see a woman and Uraume standing opposite to one another, depicting the two said choices. The identity of the woman remains unknown. She could be his mother, but it’s only a speculation without any concrete evidence.

The final arc is action-packed but lost a great opportunity to delve deeper into the lore and character conclusions. This is especially true when it comes to Kenjaku, one of the series’ major villains. He was an ancient curse user and a central character in the story. Kenjaku lived for over a millennium thanks to his cursed technique, which allowed him to switch bodies.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for the Shinjuku Showdown Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen!

If that wasn’t enough, he had an unimaginable number of powerful cursed techniques in his arsenal, making him one of the strongest sorcerers in history. Even so, his death was nothing short of underwhelming. His comedic face-off with Fumihiko Takaba wasn’t exactly a conventional battle. However, his ending at Yuta’s hands was too quick and didn’t leave much of an impact. Thanks to Takaba’s distraction, Yuta decapitates him in Chapter 243. A brief flashback in Chapter 249 confirms his death. You’d think the story would delve deeper into that mysterious character later on, but that’s not the case. While Kenjaku passed down the responsibility of the merger to Sukuna, nothing happened later on.

Jujutsu Kaisen Final Volumes Neglect Kenjaku Completely

Kenjaku’s past and mystery died along with him. The manga never delved deeper into his story. Even his past as Yuji’s mother was buried. A lot of things about him are truly intriguing and mysterious, including his true appearance. Additionally, Kenjaku’s relationship with Tengen remains a mystery. They were either friends centuries ago, or perhaps they worked closely together. Either way, the manga only shows that they know each other but never explain anything.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final volumes were the last hope fans had of finding out more about him. The volumes include extra illustrations, and Volume 30 even has a 16-page epilogue centering around Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume. Unfortunately, none of them remotely mentions Kenjaku. The epilogue even has a Heian-era flashback revealing Uraume’s first meeting with Sukuna. Meanwhile, the extra illustrations feature a lot of minor characters but not Kenjaku. He remains a mystery even long after the manga’s ending. While there are several speculations, nothing is specifically confirmed.

Kenjaku Had a Greater Role in Jujutsu Kaisen Than Sukuna

Kenjaku is the mastermind behind Yuji’s birth. He created Yuji for the sole purpose of being Sukuna’s vessel. In a way, Kenjaku could be considered a catalyst of the story. Kenjaku also created the Death Paintings, which later serve an important role in the story. He’s also the one who orchestrated the Shiya Incident and sealed Satoru Gojo. Things only go downhill from that point on.

And let’s not forget he’s the only reason Culling Game even began. Sukuna, despite being the primary antagonist, was a bystander for most of the story, while Kenjaku did all the work. Hence, his contribution to the story can’t be denied. Even so, he gets a confusing conclusion after being defeated without showcasing his true offensive abilities. In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270, we briefly see Takaba and someone who appears to be Kenjaku, which again raises questions. Does he really die in the end? We can’t be too sure. Hence, most of the questions about this villain remain unanswered, which is truly a wasted potential.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga released its Volumes 29 and 30 on December 25th, 2024. The manga reaches its conclusion with Sukuna’s defeat. After the brutal battle is over, the sorcerers strive to set the Jujutsu world anew. It wasn’t only Gojo’s lifelong dream but also a necessity since the corrupt elders were doing more harm than good. The manga volumes are currently available in Japanese and the English release date has yet to be announced. Both volumes include a special message from the creator. In Volume 29, Gege Akutami shares, “I came this far without knowing anything about colors.”

It’s no secret among fans that Gege is slightly colorblind. As an artist, he must have had his fair share of struggles in his career due to his color blindness. Hence, he acknowledges how far he has come despite not knowing anything about colors. Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular series of recent times. It already has 100 million copies in circulation, which is a historic milestone. In Volume 30, he leaves a final message to his fans saying, “Someday, we’ll meet again.” The message is short but it hints at the mangaka returning with new projects in the future. Since the volumes aren’t available in English, @f9x00 shares the translation of the author’s comment in both volumes.

What’s Next For Jujutsu Kaisen’s Creator Gege Akutami?

Although the mangaka hasn’t specifically confirmed his next project, he has dropped a few hints along the way he will return with a new manga in the future. Jujutsu Kaisen is Akutami’s first serialized work. Given its massive popularity, fans will surely be more interested in his upcoming series as well. In an author’s note in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271, Gege Akutami shared, “We’ve reached the end. Thank you all for your support!! I’ll keep doing my best with my future work.”

Additionally, he attended Jump Festa 2025 where JJK anime shared its first look at Season 3. Gege again teased his upcoming manga, “Once again, I’d like to thank you for your support of Jujutsu Kaisen these seven years. I hope to pay you all back as I prepare for my next challenge.” For all we know, the author could be already planning a new manga. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has only recently ended, and paired with Akutami’s health issues, he’s finally getting a well-deserved break. The manga even went on a hiatus after Chapter 262 since he underwent surgery to remove his appendix.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volumes 29 and 30 are available on Shueisha’s official website but they will only be shipped in Japan. However, global fans can purchase Japanese versions on an online store CDJapan, which will ship the copies online. English and other translations will take at least a few months to be globally available. While you can read all the chapters on the official app of Manga Plus, it doesn’t include the volume extra illustrations and the final epilogue. Another perk of owning a copy is to have access to extra scenes Gege added in the story and new versions of the original drawing in Chapter 262, which he couldn’t draw properly because of his health.

Jujutsu Kaisen might have released its final manga chapter earlier this year but creator Gege Akutami was more than willing to make a comeback to fill out the series finale. The mangaka didn’t just flesh out some of the futures of the supporting characters that helped fight the shonen’s biggest curses, it gave readers more time to see what future lay ahead for our three favorite sorcerers, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara. For the star of the series, now that fighting against some of his biggest enemies is no longer a problem, Yuji’s future might be focused far more on romance.

Warning. If you don’t want Jujutsu Kaisen’s epilogue spoiled, be forewarned that we’ll be diving into serious spoiler territory. In the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, prior to the fight against Geto and his forces in the Shibuya Incident Arc, the supernatural shonen series brought back a character that appeared to have a major fondness for the heroic protagonist. Yuko Ozawa was a former classmate to Yuji who had long spent her time admiring the better half of Sukuna from afar. While Yuko never found herself fighting alongside the potential love of her life, hope sprang eternal for Ozawa and the epilogue proves it.

Yuji x Yuko

In the series finale epilogue, Yuji and Yuko meet for one last time before the series truly does come to an end. Now that Sukuna has been defeated, the pair are able to take time with one another, marveling at the snow around them. While she doesn’t reveal her feelings to Yuji straight out, Yuko does state in no uncertain terms in her mind that she likes Itadori. Needless to say, this fact is one that will always blow the minds of Yuji’s best friends, Megumi and Nobara.

Jujutsu Kaisen might be over but the series will remain a major influence on the shonen world for years to come. Even with the manga wrapped, the anime adaptation still has some big moments to cover and, most likely, has several seasons and movies ahead of it to play catch up. Most likely, we won’t see this moment between Yuji and Yuko for years but that doesn’t mean it won’t have a serious impact on the Studio MAPPA production once it airs.

Jujutsu Kaisen Aoi Todo

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga released its Volumes 29 and 30 on December 25th, 2024. The manga stopped serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2024. The story ends with Sukuna’s defeat and the sorcerers preparing to reset the broken Jujutsu world, which is just what Gojo wanted. The final volume includes a 16-page epilogue that features four extra stories centering around Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume. Additionally, both volumes have several illustrations as one of them reveals the inspiration behind Todo’s vibraslap.

Aoi Todo is one of the most popular Jujutsu Kaisen characters. He debuts at the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc and quickly becomes one of Yuji’s closest allies. Todo is a powerful Grade 1 sorcerer who provides excellent support to Yuji in a battle. After the duo’s intense battle against Hanami in the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, they reunite in Shibuya. They fight against Mahito, a more powerful opponent than Hanami. Todo loses his left hand and disappears from the story since then. He returns to readers’ delight after almost four years later to give Yuji the final push against Sukuna after Choso’s death. However, Todo returns with a strange power.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 29 Reveals Todo’s Vibraslap Is Inspired By a Comedian

In an extra illustration, Gege Akutami draws a popular Japanese comedian, Jun Itoda. @f9x00 shares, “The guy in Vol 29 extras is presumed to be Jun Itoda. A Japanese comedian who used vibraslap in one of his gigs. He might’ve inspired Gege to add vibra slap tech for Todo.” Itoda performs tsukkomi, a traditional style of comedy in Japanese culture, in the comedy duo Speed Wagon.

Since Todo’s cursed technique, Boogie Woogie is triggered by clapping his hands, he shouldn’t conventionally be unable to use it anymore. Since Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration technique hit him, he can’t recover his hand using Reverse Cursed Technique either. Mahito’s technique alters the shape of his target’s soul, hence RCT is useless against it. This should’ve been the end of his career as a Jujutsu sorcerer. However, he returns with a vibraslap attached to his left hand. Yuta Okkotsu helps Todo fine-tune the vibraslap, which is how the latter returns stronger than ever.

Jujutsu Kaisen Todo Yuji

This instrument allows him to perform approximately 50 swaps per second. Todo changed the condition for activating his cursed technique from a clap to a metal piece hitting a wooden box. He also makes a binding vow to expand the range and targets of his technique if he limits the number of swaps per strike. Todo returns in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 259 to lend Yuji a hand. After Sukuna uses his Divine Flame, Yuji is left alone on the battlefield and watches his brother, Choso, disintegrate in front of him.

Since Yuji can’t find the others, he thinks the others fell victim to Sukuna’s technique as well. Just when he’s about to drown in despair, Todo appears again to lend him the support he needs. Todo and Yuji team up one last time against the final villain. Additionally, Todo also used his Boogie Woogie to help Yuta kill Kenjaku, which is revealed in Chapter 259.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator, Gege Akutami, was never scared of taking some big players off the board when it came to his supernatural shonen universe. In the recent second season of the anime adaptation, the Shibuya Incident Arc saw heroes and villains alike being taken down like bowling pins in a fight for the future of Japan. Earlier this year, Akutami released the final chapter of the beloved series, but much like My Hero Academia’s Kohei Horikoshi, the mangaka isn’t finished when it comes to bringing his characters to life. In a new touching tribute, the artist has once again focused on the deceased members of Jujutsu Tech.

Warning. If you aren’t caught up with the manga and don’t want these deaths spoiled for you, be forewarned that we’ll be diving into serious spoiler territory for Jujutsu Kaisen. In the anime adaptation’s second season, we witnessed the deaths of Nanami and Mahito, with Nobara seemingly taken down as well only to reappear in the final chapters after quite some time away. Looking to outdo himself with the final battle, Akutami was more than willing to kill off major heroes like Gojo and Choso, proving that no one was safe in fighting against the supernatural threats facing Jujutsu Tech. While the final chapter of the manga was a controversial one, Gege has returned for not just new art, but also when it comes to expanding on the last installment.

RIP To The Sorcerers We Met Along The Way

To celebrate the grand finale of Jujutsu Kaisen, the shonen franchise released new newspaper ads in Japan that saw Gege Akutami revealing new art of Nanami, Choso, and Gojo respectively. In the final chapter of the manga, we don’t see any of these characters brought back from the dead but we do bare witness to the happiest ending that Yuji ITadori and his surviving friends could have hoped for. Following the defeat of Sukuna, the king of curses, the future seems bright for both Jujutsu Tech and the world.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Anime Future

While the manga might have ended in 2024, the anime adaptation still has seasons and movies to look forward to. Revealed at this year’s Jump Festa event, Jujutsu Kaisen has a new compilation film that will retell the story of Gojo and Geto’s earlier years as a part of the Hidden Inventory Arc. Alongside the film announcement, the supernatural shonen also revealed new art for its upcoming third season, which will focus heavily on the new arc known as “The Culling Game.”

When last we saw Yuji Itadori in the Shibuya Incident Arc, things only went from bad to worse thanks to Geto’s machinations. Gojo is now trapped within the Prison Realm and Jujutsu Tech wants Yuji dead thanks to the path of destruction left by Sukuna. While Yuji might be on the run, he’s going to get some unexpected help from a new ally made in season two, though the return of Yuta Okkotsu is not good news for the shonen protagonist.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended its serialization in September 2024. However, the manga volumes took a few months to be released. Shueisha has released Volumes 29 and 30 simultaneously on December 25th, 2024. Both volumes include special illustrations. Additionally, Volume 30 has a 16-page epilogue, divided into four parts, centering around Yuko Ozawa, Panda, Nobara Kugisaki, and Uraume. Not only that, but the volumes include additional scenes of Choso’s death, making it more brutal and heartbreaking than ever. Another perk of buying the manga volumes is the improved version of Chapter 262, which Gege Akutami couldn’t draw properly because of his poor health. The official account of Jujutsu Kaisen PR shares that the volumes are available for Japanese buyers on the official website of Shueisha.

Each volume is priced at 572 yen, including tax (approximately $3.63). However, global fans can also get their hands on the copies by buying them from a Japanese online store, CDJapan. The store will ship the copies internationally within two to four days. It’s currently priced at 520 yen, but tax and international shipping might include some extra charges. However, the only problem is that the copies are only available in Japanese. It will take a few more months to translate and license the latest JJK volumes before selling them in English or other languages. In the meantime, you can own the Japanese version and add it to your collection. It’s also an easy way for Japanese-speaking JJK fans living outside the country to get a look at the manga.

What Happens in Jujutsu Kaisen Volumes 29 and 30?

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 29 includes Chapters 255 to 263. The cover art features Ryomen Sukuna in his Heian Era form. The battle against the strongest takes an unexpected turn two former enemies arrive at Shinjuku to help the sorcerers. As Sukuna shows no signs of stopping, the manga reveals how those two came at the behest of Satoru Gojo, who already had contingency plans ready in case he lost against Sukuna While the raid continues, Yuta Okkotsu, who barely survived the World Cutting Slash, makes a difficult decision that not only risks his life but also costs him his humanity.

Additionally, Volume 30 includes Chapters 264 to 271. The battle against Ryomen Sukuna is in its final stage when Yuji uses the ultimate technique in Jujutsu sorcery. He plans to show mercy to the villain but Sukuna has plans of his own. All the sorcerers are down for the count, leaving only Yuji fighting the battle alone. Surprisingly, he reunites with his two friends, who give him the final support needed to defeat Sukuna. The final volume also includes an extra epilogue. While Uraume’s story is a brief flashback from the Heian Era, the other parts follow the characters after the conclusion of the main story.

Among the extra illustrations in the final Jujutsu Kaisen volumes, one solves the biggest misunderstanding regarding Sukuna’s relationship with Yuji. Akutami confirms that Wasuke Itadori, Yuji’s grandfather is the incarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother. This means Sukuna is Yuji’s granduncle, but not uncle, as the masses believed.

SHONEN JUMP
Jujutsu Kaisen Sukuna Heian Era Form

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in September 2024 and finally released the last two Volumes 29 and 30 on December 25th, 2024. The volumes include several extra illustrations and a 16-page epilogue centering around Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume. One of the extra illustrations clears up a misunderstanding about Sukuna’s relationship with Yuji. Sukuna, despite being the primary antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, is still a mysterious character. The manga only mentions he lost due to the combined efforts of sorcerers in the Heian Era, but we never get any details about it.

The Heian Era is known as the Golden Age of Sorcery, and Sukuna stood at the pinnacle even during that time. Furthermore, we still don’t know his real name. Ryomen Sukuna is just a title given to him as the undefeated King of Curses. It could be possible that he never received one since he was an abandoned child. Sukuna was a conjoined twin, which explains his unique physical features. He ate his twin brother in his mother’s womb, and that twin wandered for centuries. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257 reveals that there’s been a major confusion regarding Sukuna’s relationship with Yuji’s family.

jujutsu-kaisen-sukuna.png

The Final Volume’s Extra Illustration Reveals the Relationship Between Sukuna and Wasuke

The Jujutsu Kaisen illustration includes side-by-side portraits of Wasuke Itadori and Sukuna, with a note that says, “To be precise, it’s not Itadori’s dad, but his grandfather who shares the same soul. Do we look similar?” The volume is still only available in Japanese, so @f9x00 shares the illustration along with a translation on X. In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257, Sukuna narrates his origin and talks about how he ate his twin in his mother’s womb. His twin’s soul wandered around for centuries until he mated with Kenjaku, an ancient curse user who lived for over 1000 years thanks to his cursed technique. It’s almost clear from Sukuna’s words that Jin Itadori is the incarnation of his twin brother. After all, his wife Kaori Itadori was possessed by Kenjaku.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 143 features a brief flashback introducing Jin and Kaori (Kenjaku). Wasuke, Yuji’s grandfather warns Jin to give up on “that” woman or else he will die. The father and son are also aware of Kaori’s death. However, the final volume confirms that Sukuna’s relationship with Yuji has been widely misunderstood. Wasuke and Sukuna do share a bit of similarity, which has been pointed out by fans before. Wasuke’s personality of pushing people away while being alone also resonates with Sukuna. However, while the manga solves this misunderstanding, one thing is still confusing.

jujutsu-kaisen-manga-ending-yuji-sukuna.jpg
Shueisha/Gege Akutami

Did Jujustu Kaisen’s Final Volume Make Yuji’s Family More Complicated?

If Wasuke really is the incarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother in Jujutsu Kaisen, then what Sukuna said about his brother mating with Kenjaku makes no sense. It could be a translation error or it’s possible Sukuna misunderstood the situation. However, in Chapter 157, he’s clearly talking about Jin Itadori. Kenjaku took over Kaori’s body in order to create a perfect vessel for Sukuna and his plans worked.

Even so, the identity of Wasuke’s wife would’ve been useful at this point to resolve the confusion about the family. Wasuke clearly knew everything about what was going on. He doesn’t showcase any signs of having a cursed energy but should be aware of its existence. It’s possible he knows that an ancient curse user is possessing Kaori’s body. Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen never specifically explained a lot about Wasuke so even his relationship with Kenjaku remains unknown.

Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo Satoru Juju Stroll

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga released its Volumes 29 and 30 on December 25th, 2024. The manga is currently only available in Japanese and the English release date has yet to be announced. It usually takes a few months to release the English versions, so fans will have to wait a while to buy the copies. Volume 29, titled “Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown ーLiving Deadー” includes Chapters 255 to 263. Additionally, the final Volume 30, titled “From Now On,” includes Chapters 264 to 271. It also has a special 16-page epilogue centering around Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume.

Uraume’s epilogue glimpses at the Heian Era and their first meeting with the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Meanwhile, we follow the other three characters after the events of the main. Nobara meets her mother so she can fulfill Gojo’s last wish. Meanwhile, Panda’s epilogue is set in 2080 and shows Yuta’s grandchildren. Finally, Yuko’s epilogue reaffirms her feelings for Yuji. However, the epilogue isn’t the only special thing about the final volumes. Usually, every JJK volume has extra illustrations, and these two are no different. One of the illustrations showcases Gojo’s goofy side even after his death.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume Extra Includes Hilarious Gojo Illustration

The illustration includes the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 cast, Satoru Gojo, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and Panda. The students are hanging out together, and we can see Gojo from behind with abnormally long legs so he reaches to the sky. Judging by Panda’s size, it’s clear the scene in the illustration is after the conclusion of the main story. The illustration is goofy but it also has a hidden meaning. Since Gojo is reaching up to the sky, it likely depicts how he’s looking over his students even after his death. @f9x00 shares the extra illustration on X.

Instead of showing a tear-jerking perspective of Gojo’s departure in Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami decides to highlight Gojo’s goofiness that’s still intact after his death. Gojo is one of the most popular characters in recent years. Fans not only love his attractive appearance but also his immature personality. Gojo, as the strongest sorcerer in the modern era, carried a huge burden his entire life. However, outwardly, he will maintain a cheerful personality. He added the much-needed comedy moments in the show.

Jujutsu Kaisen Satoru Gojo
MAPPA

What Happens to Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Gojo dies in his battle against Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 236. The battle of the strongest, which lasts for about 15 chapters, is the most popular fight of JJK. Gojo and Sukuna duel after the former is unsealed from the Prison Realm. Things turn worse after Gojo’s death as Sukuna takes on his final form, which grants him unimaginable powers. Despite the months of fan theories circulating about Gojo’s revival, the manga never specifically hinted at his return.

He also appears in the final chapter in a brief flashback as Yuji remembers his words before the battle of the strongest. Gojo will live on among his students as they strive to make the Jujutsu world a better place. The higher-ups are already dead and with Sukuna’s defeat, the sorcerers can set things right with peace of mind.

Jujutsu Kaisen released its final Volumes 29 and 30 on December 25th, 2024. The volumes are currently only available in Japanese and it will take a few months for them to be globally available in English version. The manga reached its conclusion in September 2024 with Sukuna’s defeat. The battle against the King of Curses was long and brutal, resulting in the deaths of beloved characters like Satoru Gojo and Choso. However, the sorcerers finally manage to defeat Sukuna as they keep raiding him one after another.

The manga concludes with several unanswered questions, including one about Sukuna and Uraume. They are a minor antagonist in the story who fought Kinji Hakari during the raid against Sukuna. Uraume planned to defeat Hakari and be of help to Sukuna. However, the two were at a standstill with neither side showing any signs of defeat. Sukuna and Uraume always had a special bond that goes beyond a master-servant relationship. They met during the Heian Era and we finally find out the reason behind Uraume’s blind loyalty towards Sukuna.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Final Epilogue Features Brief Heian Era Flashback

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 30 includes a 16-page epilogue focusing on four characters. Uraume’s epilogue begins with Sukuna wandering about and finding a traumatized child near two dead bodies on his path. Uraume is frozen solid and reveals that everywhere around them is cold. Even their parents died because of the cold emanating from their body. Uraume is an extremely powerful sorcerer, known as the “Frozen Star.”

However, during the Heian Era, they were almost never able to control their powers. Sukuna takes Uraume with him and tells him that he accidentally broke his icehouse (a prototype refrigerator used to store ice throughout the year). He gives Uraume the task of watching over his meat so it doesn’t rot.

After all, Uraume’s powers can keep the meat fresh. Not to mention Uraume is a talented cook. Sukuna’s interest is piqued and he asks if Uraume can butcher humans. The series has often mentioned that Sukuna is a cannibal. However, Uraume is only surprised by the fact that Sukuna doesn’t get cold in their presence. The King of Curses asks the child the same question as they walk away holding hands, just like in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271.

What Happens to Uraume in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Kenjaku uses a human as a vessel to revive Uraume in a similar way that Sukuna was revived with Yuji’s help. The duo reunited in Shibuya and Uraume returned to serving Sukuna. Uraume’s role in the story so far has only been as Sukuna’s ally. They tried to help the King of Curses during the raid but Kinji Hakari interfered. They both dueled through the entirety of the Sukuna raid until Uraume used their power to freeze their neck, decapitating themself.

After his death, Sukuna meets Mahito in the passageway for the circulation of souls. The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen shows a heartwarming scene where Sukuna is comforting a crying Uraume who is in the form of a kid. This shows that the two had a more special bond than we originally thought. In fact, Uraume even takes their own life after finding out about Sukuna’s death. Sukuna’s words and actions prove that he cares about his subordinates and moves on to the afterlife.

Jujutsu Kaisen Itadori Yuji

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga reached its conclusion in September 2024 after concluding the battle against Sukuna. The King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, is the primary antagonist of the series and he dies thanks to the combined efforts of all sorcerers. As the long-standing battle against Sukuna ends, each sorcerer strives to contribute to the reforming of the Jujutsu world. The never-ending battle against the curses will never end but with the Jujutsu world providing better education to the future sorcerers, the casualties in the future can be minimized.

However, among the sorcerers, there’s one who couldn’t join the raid against Sukuna. Panda loses two of his cores and his entire body after his fight with Kashimo. Just when Kashimo is about to blow off Panda’s head, Hakari saves him just in the nick of time. Still, Panda is now really small and unable to fight anymore. Unfortunately, without Masamichi Yaga’s help, he stays like this for a long time. He appears briefly before the battle of the strongest to cheer on Gojo. The Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue from Volume 30 reveals his tragic fate, even though he survives the longest compared to his peers.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Panda Epilogue Is Set in 2080

Even though Panda is the only surviving character in the future, his fate is just too tragic. He lost independent control function after the sorcery terrorism of November 2018. In October 2035, he completely stopped activity and was registered into the Gojo’s family storage. He was given away as a special cursed object and his ownership was handed over to Yuta Okkotsu, the Gojo Clan head representative. Yuta took over the Gojo Clan as an acting head after his teacher’s death.

In the year 2080, Yuta’s grandchildren went to the storage to see Panda. They say that the objects in the room are Yuta’s treasures, including Panda. Even though Panda lost all functions, he still moves every once in a while. He has his consciousness left, and even thinks Yuta’s grandchildren are really loud. Despite surviving the longest among any JJK character, Panda meets the worst fate by living a lonely existence. All his friends grow old and die while he is stored away like an object. Time stands still for him and he always stays in a tiny body looking like a plush toy.

Jujutsu Kaisen Panda
MAPPA

How Did Panda Survive For That Long?

Panda is an Abrupt Mutation Cursed Corpse created by Masamichi Yaga, the only known character who can create independent cursed corpses that produce their own cursed energy. He created Panda who was born sentient and possessed three cores. Each of his cores possesses unique traits, allowing him to switch between them and alter his physical shape at will. Even among Cursed Corpses, Panda is one of a kind. He’s only able to survive this long because he doesn’t have the body of a mortal. If Yaga was alive, he probably could’ve helped Panda get back to his previous strength after the fight with Kashimo. Sadly, Panda completely lost his function and became inactive while keeping his consciousness intact. He can continue to survive like that for decades or even centuries.

Nobara’s return in the final battle against Sukuna in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga was extremely controversial. She suffered a fatal blow during her fight with Mahito and didn’t appear in the story for four years. The manga rarely mentioned her after the tragedy; whenever it did, it hinted more towards her death. Regardless, JJK creator Gege Akutami was saving her as the final ace up the sleeve against Sukuna. Her Resonance is powerful enough to severely damage her target whenever she uses it on any of their body parts.

Hence, she points her attack towards Sukuna and injures him even more. Sukuna was already severely weakened, which could be the final nail in the coffin. After that, Yuji and Megumi deal with the villain, and the former lands the final blow while the newly rescued Megumi lends his support. After the fight ends, Nobara receives a letter from her teacher Satoru Gojo, who tracked down Nobara’s mother. It was strange that Akutami would bring up Nobara’s mother for the first time only when the manga was ending. However, it’s evident he had planned an epilogue altogether.

Nobara Meets Her Mother in the Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue

The 16-page Jujutsu Kaisen epilogue centers around Nobara, Yuko, Panda, and Uraume, with each character’s story being covered in four pages. Nobara was extremely annoyed at the mention of her mother, and that’s because she couldn’t care less about the irresponsible parent whom she hadn’t met in years. Even so, she chose to respect Gojo’s last wish and used the information he gave her to arrange a meeting. Nobara’s maternal grandmother raised her, who had some cursed energy, helping facilitate the meeting more easily.

Although Nobara comes to meet her mother in Jujutsu Kaisen, her attitude is really cold. Nobara’s been distant from her mother for a long time and it doesn’t appear she plans to make amends. Still, she respects Gojo’s wishes and talks with her. Compared to Nobara’s attitude, her mother has a soft smile on her face. She appears to be genuinely happy that her daughter is having fun despite living the brutal life of a sorcerer.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Sheds Light on Nobara’s Relationship With Her Irresponsible Mother

Nobara’s mother was a sorcerer but she acknowledges she had no talent for it. However, Nobara refutes what she lacked wasn’t the talent of a sorcerer but a parent’s. Her mother thinks Nobara wants her to acknowledge her. She even goes as far as saying she hasn’t changed one bit and she’s having fun while seducing the rich, getting drunk, and running through young men.

Nobara again emphasizes that she doesn’t care about her mother and she’s only respecting the dead. However, Nobara also has another reason to see her mother – she thinks she will see something really fun. Just when her mother is confused, Nobara greets her grandmother, much to the former’s horror. Her grandmother is looking really scary and ready to scare her good-for-nothing daughter.

Not only did her daughter fail to raise Nobara, but she’s still living the irresponsible life she did when she was young. As such, the mother and daughter will have a long talk, while Nobara will relish in her mother’s misery. Despite her initial resistance, things turn out pretty well for her. Although she doesn’t make amends with her mother (which was impossible from the start), at least Nobara won’t have to live with such a painful loose end in Jujutsu Kaisen.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga includes a final epilogue in Volume 30 which will be released along with Volume 29 on December 25, 2024. The epilogue will center around Nobara Kugisaki, Yuko Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume, much to fans’ dismay. Nobara is one of the main trio of the series. Unfortunately, she gets sidelined from the story after her fight with Mahito. In Chapter 124, she suffers a fatal blow from Mahito. In the next few chapters, we briefly see glimpses of her past, and she says how she fun as a sorcerer. She knows she’s done for, so she bids farewell to Yuji.

However, Arata Nitta’s appearance in Chapter 127 leaves her fate unknown since he takes her for emergency treatment after stopping her bleeding. The series briefly mentions her only three times since then, each time hinting that she’s indeed gone. Even so, the possibility of her return was always there since no one specifically confirmed her death. She returns in Chapter 265 during the final stretch of the story and contributes to the battle against Sukuna. However, that’s not the end of her role. In Chapter 268, she reads Gojo’s last letter to her where he mentions her mother. This opens the door for her new goal, despite her reluctance.

Nobara Meets Her Mother In the Jujutsu Kaisen Final Epilogue

Gojo has always cared for his students and their happiness. Compared to Megumi or Yuji, JJK didn’t feature a lot of his interactions with Nobara. Still, he leaves behind a letter for her and Megumi. Those were the only ones he couldn’t meet for one last time so he entrusted Yuji to hand them the letters. Nobara was unconscious since the Shibuya Incident Arc and she only woke up 30 minutes before In Nobara’s letter, he tells her he tracked down her mother for her.

As the head of the Gojo Clan, he has a lot of connections. He can even track down Yuta’s bloodline, which no one in the Jujutsu world knew. So, finding the whereabouts of a former sorcerer is even easier for him. He goes through the trouble because he sincerely wishes Nobara to make amends with her mother. Gojo likely believes it will help Nobara move on from her rocky past. This is the first mention of her mother in the story, and Nobara is clearly unhappy about it. Her maternal grandmother raised her, so it’s easy to guess the mother and daughter have been estranged.

Much about Nobara’s past remains unknown. She only talks about her childhood friend Saori, who was only with her for a short period of time. However, the final epilogue shows Nobara meeting her mother. Nobara’s mother looks fashionable and carefree, somewhat resembling her daughter. She looks happy that her daughter came to meet her but Nobara quickly refutes it by saying it’s bad luck to ignore the wish of the dead.

Nobara’s family has always had cursed powers, but nothing strong enough to make them Jujutsu sorcerers. Although Nobara keeps claiming till the end that she doesn’t care about her mother, at least she’s able to untie the knot in her heart. We also see a brief glimpse of her grandmother’s scary face as the latter is ready to lecture the woman for abandoning her daughter.
